So we brushed the cobwebs off the umbrellas and removed the mothballs from the wet weather gear, and what did we get?
We got sunshine, that's what we got.
A nice relaxed game of Stableford, after all the excitement of recent weeks.
And a good turnout, although the Wildcats game saw a rush for the exit at the end of the day.
After yesterdays "damaging winds" we had plenty of excuses for wayward shots, with all those twigs and branches scattered around.
We wished Kerry bon voyage
And welcome back to Glen.
The Golden Hole went off today
Which means Don is having a purple patch at the moment.
Shame there wasn't a bit more in the kitty - it's looking a very respectable $311 on the Old Course at the moment.
The other novelties were shared around a bit more than usual
And an outstanding round from Brett to complete the day
Together with an Eagle from Glen, which just goes to show that taking a few weeks off doesn't really take the shine off your game.
Now, with a few stroke rounds coming up, remember the rule that came into effect earlier this year
- the most you can score on any one hole is a ten. So, if you pick up without completing a hole, you are not disqualified, and the hole is not wiped. You just score a ten on your card and move on to the next hole.
Not that you want to record a ten. Or even an eight:
Obviously, this rule is irrelevant when playing Stableford.
And I had a nice photo of Barry, and accidentally deleted it, so have this instead:
Now, next week, the first round of the SOS Cup, to be played on the Tuart.
By the time we get to the second round on the following week, the cored and sanded Old Course should be back in normal condition.
A good time to remind ourselves of how to mend those pitch marks on the nice new greens.
And a couple of things to bear in mind as you move around the course:
Any change works ... for three holes
And no matter how badly you're playing .... it's always possible to play worse.
See you next week.
