SOS Matchplay Final 31 August 2019

Yet again, the forecast for Saturday was for a deluge, potentially jeopardising the match play final and washing away the Ambrose Pairs competition! And, yet again (4th week in a row?), the meteorological gods smiled on the SOS contingent as the heavy showers had cleared well before tee-off.

Blue skies and generally light winds provided ideal conditions apart from the fact that all the greens on the Tuart Course had been cored and liberally sanded. Many putts fell well short of the pin when the damp sand was not factored into the stroke!

John Messenger and Earle Scarf  set off as the first group and promptly disappeared from view around the dogs leg on hole 1. At stake was the SOS Match Play Trophy with second place receiving the mounted silver dish!  Both tee shots veered off the fairway!

Tony and Jeannie won the Ambrose competition with a spectacular net 56.5 shots which included 5 birdies!!

Vickie and Brett made a commendable 15 pars.

The Golden Hole (Hole 3) had accumulated over a number of weeks to $84 and was won by SOS's newest member Tony Gooch!
