What a beautiful day - the sun shone, the birds sang, and the West Australian Blind Golfers Association had come to play.
There's quite a history to this fixture, going back to the 1980's, when SOS first became involved with what was then the WABGC through the auspices of Ron Anderson and Syd Harper. Over the years the honours have been pretty equally shared, SOS having won the trophy back in 2018.
The WABGA turned up with a team of nine golfers, so SOS assembled our very best(?) to take them on, and quite a challenge it turned out to be.
Played as a Stableford 1vs1 competition, the game was played in the best of spirits, and was great fun for all those who took part.
Meanwhile, those who hadn't played in front and went ahead to get the barbecue organised, very posh with tablecloths and all - so special thanks to the hard-working players who had it all ready by the time most of us turned up.
Thanks to Brett and Lynne, for those great photos of the day
And an extra vote of thanks to the caddies, who all put in their time unselfishly to help make it a great day.
We wished Ian bon voyage, as he heads off to circumnavigate Australia, and Happy Birthday for a landmark celebration
And Happy Birthday to Shelley, who also celebrated a special birthday this week.
The results? Here are the SOS Stableford scores:
An exceptional score from Max, particularly as no-one else came within six points of him.
There was a prize for the best WABGA score, which went to Deanna
And the WABGA very kindly gave prizes to SOS:
Shelley presented a cheque from SOS to WABGA
And the overall result:
A 6:3 win for SOS, but the real winner -
Everyone - a great day out. And remember:
