An early start for most of us
But that was a lot of fun
Not only did it all run pretty smoothly
We were well looked after by Secret Harbour
And the weather?
After a week of warnings from Bureau of Meteorology
The word thunderstorms was even mentioned once or twice
We had glorious sunshine from first to last
The bunkers were ... challenging
And like any decent links course
It paid to stay on the fairways
But those who treated the course with respect
Came home with very nice scores.
A big hand to Shelley, Stephanie and Vickie who worked hard before the event
And an even bigger hand to Gary, who's been on the project for several months
A great day, a Country Cup to remember.
Our guests played well,
Gerry 30 pts
Mark 30 pts
Terry 36 pts with a birdie on the third
So, the guest prize goes to Terry, and a welcome to Gerry, his first game with the club. Hope you had a good time, mate.
The catering department went all festive over the Grand Final result, and well done the Eagles, but perhaps we should spare a thought for Collingwood
But then again, maybe not.
So let's share this moment, then move on:
Sadly, Gary has had to resign as Vice-President. We wish him all the best and a speedy recovery from his health issues, but we still expect to see him on the course each week.
John Messenger has been invited by the committee to step into the role, and we look forward to working with him.
He's awarding a surprise trophy to the most successful virtual 2BBB partnership of the day, and the results will be announced next week. (No, I don't really either, but he'll explain it all).

There was another novelty prize, for the most bunkers encountered today. After a countback and a blind draw, Steph stepped up and claimed the prize.
Well done, I think.

A clear winner, Ian had a great round and tamed what was not an easy course.
To celebrate, he's setting off in his caravan to visit Victoria, of all places, with the missus.
We don't expect to see him back again until December, so bon voyage to you both.
Could always get there and back before Saturday... |
And as the footie season comes to an end, let's finish with this thought.
See you all next week
