Par Wembley Tuart Course Saturday 8th November 2014

Sponsor:  Phil McLeod

Sorry members not much news this week as I did not play on Saturday.  I did however attend the nineteenth hole for a few photos and results of the day and perhaps I had a drink or two! Telling by the faces of the players as they entered the club, it was a challenging day for many and others again had an extraordinary day.  I am so proud of our President with all the tasks on hand, filling in for Kerry and Peter, she managed to hit an eagle on the 14th hole and a birdie on the 12th.  Well done!

Mardi and Bruce brought along two guests this week, who kept us entertained.  I have never felt so short standing next to the two meter giant Gordon! Oh and the other is a South African named David!  Now there are two of us!

Yellow Peril Wembley Tuart Course Saturday 1st November 2014

Sponsor:  SOS
The LADIES Team!
Rosslyn, Charm, The President and Wolper!
When I saw who I was teamed up with, I thought I am in a bad situation, after all my comments I gave our lovely President, Shelley, last week on the blog. I was awaiting that Hammer to come out of her bag LOL. What an enjoyable day we had, I actually got to see Shelley laugh a bit. Rosslyn was the player of the day, saving our team on the last hole when he hit a perfect birdie with a cricket swing! Well done Stirrer.
The Yellow Peril Game must be the most nerve wrecking game, as all eyes are set on the player with that damn yellow ball.  I was on the green in one on the 15th hole and was shaking so badly that I could not sink the ball for a par.  I saw the disappointment in my team members eyes, probably thinking there she goes again! The rest of the SOS Players seemed to have enjoyed the game. The Captain provided balls called "Cougar" no wonder he won! You need Lady balls to do the trick!

We enjoyed the company of another visitor this week called "Richard" Frances's brother.  I am sure we entertained him more than his hockey players that he coaches.  Hope to see him back soon!

Look at their beautiful "blue eyes" oops I
think they blew away

SOS 2nd Round Old Course Wembley Saturday 25th October 2014

Sponsor:  Richard Yeo
What an interesting day of golf.  Stangers teamed up with the Freemans! I still have neck spasms from keeping my head down and then up to look at Mardi. It is like an ant and a Giraffe.  Mardi known for her strength in hitting the ball, poor me had to try and keep up all day, but alas I was not that far behind.  The Freemans started off like a couple sooooo in love but after the eleventh hole they were like the rest of us. Mardi fed up with Bruce playing his own game called "Tree to Tree Golf".  What a laugh we had, especially as we were in the last group we knew we were only holding up the groups in the club house.  Serves you right Mr Pope for putting me in the last group again!  The faces when we finally arrived at the club was priceless and the comments even better, imagine wanting to fine us for slow play wth!!! I was not even allowed to buy something to eat as the hammer slammed on the table for us to sit down! back to school again!!!!

Stroke SOS Cup R1

Wembley Golf Course on Saturday 18th October 2014

We had an interesting day of golf. It was the slowest game ever, taking five hours to finish the round.
Trying to play with flies circling our faces and dark clouds threatening to wash out the game for the entire 18 holes, did not make it a fun day.  Well being teamed up with Nola, Steve and Roland, we made sure there would be something to laugh about. Nola and I decided to accept their challenge of $1 per hole. According to us girls we had won, but the men refused to pay us. Wonder why? Meeting up with the other players on the T-Boxes, we knew we weren't the only ones highly irritated by the slow play. Exhausted and irritated after a long day, I could not wait for an ice cold beverage.

We were in the club house relaxing when we heard the load noise and thought it was the sound of the massive raindrops, but instead it was hail stones the size of marbles covered the entire golf course within minutes.  It looked like "winter wonderland".  We were told to evacuate the club house, as the roof could collapse.  The rain was pouring through the light fittings and parts of the club completely flooded.  What a sight! Golfers running to take cover, people running to their cars and children sliding on the ice on the eighteenth hole on the old course.
WHAT A DAY!

Club Championships Wembley Old Course Saturday 11th October 2014

Sponsor:  Ian Holmes

A fresh breeze and sunny sky was the perfect weather for a round of golf.  Thank you to the UK for returning Brett to us with pants intact.  No wardrobe malfunction this week, so quite boring!
I had my best round ever breaking the 100 score! Thanks to my team members who made me feel at ease, except for ROSS the Stirrer!  Malcolm was entertaining as always with his Pardon the Pun! and Paul was missing Kerry who was cooking up a storm!  I was so excited when I was the closest to the hole in two on number 13, only to realise that Paul still had to putt and as a true man he was not going to let me have the honour.  Ross almost suffered a hernia with laughter because I thought I had it in the bag!

This is what I think of the"Little White Ball"
It Hooks And Slices, Dribbles And Dies,
And Even Disappears Before My Eyes.
Often It Will Have A Whim,
To Hit A Tree Or Take A Swim

It's Made Me Whimper Like A Pup,
And Swear That I Will Give It Up.
Take To
Drink To Ease My Sorrow,

But The Ball Knows ... I'll Be Back Tomorrow

Country Club Pinjarra Sunday 28th September 2014

Sponsor:  SOS Club
The blog information provided by Shelley and Vickie.  Many thanks!

The players had a an enjoyable time at the Country Club in Pinjarra with great lunch provided.  All organised by Gary but unfortunately he could not control the weather, with showers dominating the game half way through play. However, the Pinjarra course is a very interesting and attractive course with unexpected areas of water claiming a few balls.
