Wembley Golf Course on Saturday 18th October 2014 |
We had an interesting day of golf. It was the slowest game ever, taking five hours to finish the round.
Trying to play with flies circling our faces and dark clouds threatening to wash out the game for the entire 18 holes, did not make it a fun day. Well being teamed up with Nola, Steve and Roland, we made sure there would be something to laugh about. Nola and I decided to accept their challenge of $1 per hole. According to us girls we had won, but the men refused to pay us. Wonder why? Meeting up with the other players on the T-Boxes, we knew we weren't the only ones highly irritated by the slow play. Exhausted and irritated after a long day, I could not wait for an ice cold beverage.
We were in the club house relaxing when we heard the load noise and thought it was the sound of the massive raindrops, but instead it was hail stones the size of marbles covered the entire golf course within minutes. It looked like "winter wonderland". We were told to evacuate the club house, as the roof could collapse. The rain was pouring through the light fittings and parts of the club completely flooded. What a sight! Golfers running to take cover, people running to their cars and children sliding on the ice on the eighteenth hole on the old course.
WHAT A DAY!
