The band of rain forecast by DOM passed well to the east providing perfect conditions for the battle for the SOS Spring Cup 2026! Blue skies, a patch or two of cloud and virtually no wind - a high handicappers heaven!
With Barry Treak taking a 6 shot advantage from round 1, the result seemed all but decided! However, those who backed Sparky for the Cup were bitterley let down as the golf demons played their tricks - providing a classic example of starting off as a rooster and ending as a feather duster!!
What led to the 1st round score of 65 collapsing to a 2nd round score of 82?

How to lose 3 balls into the water on the 14th!
We all know how the fiendish water hazard on the Tuart's 14th hole can be. No doubt we have all hit a ball or two that managed to shoot through to the end of the green, or lurch out of the sand hazard, speed past the hole and plop into the water!
Gary took it to a new level when his 2nd shot fell just short of the green and required a lob wedge to take his ball over the water toward the hole. Most unfortunatley, on three sucessive attempts, the ball landed on the green but continued on until it plopped into the water!!`

| Club Captain Roland Petrie opened the meeting, noting with delight that he was also celebrating his 29th wedding anniversary! In the absence of Gerry Tessier, our esteemed President (who is rapidly recovering from golf enhancing surgery), Club Captain Roland Petrie advised of the following upcoming events: Next Week: The Final of the Match Play Competition will be played on the Tuart Course between Shelley Yeo and Colin Kerr. Play will commence at 8.30am! Other players will enjoy a game of stableford. No birthdays were reported. Country Cup. There are still a few places available to join the 2026 Pinjarra Country Cup being held on Sunday 27 September 2026. Players will be assembling at around 11.00am for a scattered start around 11.30am. Cost is $45 to members for a shared cart and 18 holes. Food and drinks are not included but can be ordered now or, over the counter on the day. Please contact Paul or Shelley if you have not already booked or paid. Deposits should be made to the SOS Bookings A/C. SOS 2026 Spring Cup The Winner of the Spring Cup was Earle Scarff with a combined score of 142, one point better than Keith Barrow on 143. Birgit came a close 3rd with an excellent score of 145.  The scores for the 2nd round are shown below:    Eagle & Birdies No eagles reported, but 4 birdies scored by: Roland on the 12 th Gary on the 15th Faye on the 17th - a 5 metre putt! Earle on the 16th Novelties The Golden Hole on the 3rd was won by Gary who takes the pot of $55. Nearest the stick on hole 1 - Derek NTP in 3 on hole 7 - Paul bettered by Roland Longest putt on the 12th - Roland Nearest to 100m marker on 15 - Gary Nearest to the pin on 18 - Gary bettered by Dave Millar Raffle The raffle raised $59 and the 1st draw was won by James Axson who won a $10 Wembley gift card. The Ash Tray Collection  Barry Treak won the lollies with a score of 85 capping off his descent from 'hero to zero'! The collection raised $36.40 to be added to the SOS philanthropic war chest as Barry called the fines, ably assisted by collectors Dave W and Gardy.
