VICE-CAPTAIN'S CHOICE

 Blind Stableford Pairs

You’ve got to be kidding.

The game’s hard enough without playing it with your eyes closed.

Oh, OK. Your score is added to someone else’s, but you don’t know whose until the game is over.

It was windy.

Windy enough to cancel the Rottnest Swim, but the gusts kept temperatures down into the twenties.

And strangely enough, we seemed to be hitting into the wind off 90% of the holes.

Certainly explains my poor scores, and possibly a reasonable excuse for anyone else.

Where's nearest the bunker today?

The last group managed to hoover up all the novelties:

NTP on the 2nd, Andrea, Gary, but Boris closest, although no birdie.

Ladies’ longest drive on the 4th, Shelley, but trumped by Andrea

Nearest in 3 on the 8th, Kerry, Frances, Shelley, Gerry, all beaten by Popey

Men’s longest drive on the 15th, Earle, Dave, Gary and Gardy furtherest

The Golden Hole went off! Wayne picked up a useful $117, although he missed the birdie, and

Nearest in 3 on the 18th, Keith, Dave, Lynley but another win for Gardy

We heard of Earle having done a ‘Barnes Wallis’ at Wanneroo earlier in the week (a skimmer over the water onto the green)

Birdies a plenty today:

On the 1st, Lynley

On the 13th, Keith

On the 15th, Gary

Dave on both the 11th and 15th, and

Popey on the 17th.

Well done those ornithologists.

Frances searching for excitement in the bottom of Earle's bag

After the game we decamped to Perry Lakes for the Sausage Sizzle, and excellent sausages they were too.

The sausage cookers excelled themselves - properly cooked but not a burnt snagger to be seen.

And a great sizzle, expertly managed by Frances and well supported, as always, by Shelley, Boris and Earle.

We were delighted to welcome Carol and Vicky to the festivities.

No prizes for individual scores today, but here are the results
