It was Stableford on the Old Course, with a decent winter tee-off time of 0900 hrs.

And so we celebrated the equinox (March 22) which the calendar will tell you is well into autumn.
![]() |
However, the weather hadn’t read the memo, so we had a beautiful blue-sky day with nary a breeze, and in any other part of the world we would have been relaxing by the pool, cooling down with an ice-cold pina colada on the side.
But this is Perth.

Harald and Gary Williams joined us for the day (Andrea’s family).
![]() |
And prospective member David Miller joined for a game with Gerry, Karl and Coops.
![]() |
Which meant that we had a strong field of 24 for the day.
Good to see some old friends back.
![]() |
And thoughts for those who are still in recovery mode - looking forward to having you all back again as soon as you’re fit.

There were anniversaires to celebrate. Lynley tells us she’s now 70 (but we’re to put 50 in the blog, so we have).

Colin likes to increase the challenge on the 10th |
And Kerry and Wally Edwards celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary (gulp). Congratulations to you both.
The novelties went as follows:
Nearest the pin in 1 on the 2nd - Popey the only name on the card. (He was in the 5th group - no-one on the green until then?)
Longest Drive for girls on the 5th goes to Andrea (only three girls played - where were you all?)
Nearest in 3 on the 7th - Gardy

Puggy shows how it's done |
The Golden Hole was unclaimed.
Men’s longest drive on the 17th - Roland, then Dave, but Popey got even further
![]() |
Nearest in 3 on the 18th, to Pug Dog in the first group, and there it stayed for the rest of the field. (It was pretty close!)
Pug Dog was a bit disappointed with the lack of tension and passion in the reading of the novelties. He has offered Karl lessons in drama. (Well-qualified to do so, as some have commented!)

Keith was sinking putts from all corners of the green.
Apparently Popey could do no wrong.

The Welsh contingent struggled a bit (probably the weather, a few snow flurries might have helped you feel at home) but enjoyed the lollies.
![]() |
Andrea had a birdie on the 1st (Makes you feel today is going to be the day, doesn’t it!)
![]() |
Goochie on the 4th and 17th (The rest were just bloody pars, I suppose)
David scored a birdie on the 8th
And Popey picked one up on the 15th
Well done, those players.

Now if you’re short of cash, we’ll publish here a full list of the raffle winners. A sob story could well strike gold here:
Gerry the big winner, then
Barry
Gary Burgess
Greg Williams
Paul Cooper
Andrea Williams

Now the competition - a wide range of scores today, from the sublime to the ridiculous.
So, a thank you to the fines collectors, and all those who sent in photographs. Karl will be taking care of the blog next week, so make sure he has plenty of material.

A reminder that next week we’ll be celebrating (?) the AGM at Perry Lakes after the game, before enjoying free drinks and tasty snacks. Do turn up if you can, or send your apologies to Derek if you’d like to have your apology recorded in the minutes.
