CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP, ROUND 6

Don't mess with the guys in Group One!

Club Championship Round 6 of 7

.

Another beautiful winter day in Perth

.

Blue skies, 25 degrees, no wind.

.

It doesn’t get any better than this

.

Except, of course, for the golf.

.

Not the biggest field

.

So many are away, having fun elsewhere

.

No birthdays

.

So, the novelties:

Nearest the pin in 3 on the 7th:

Mark Hill, followed by Gary - in the hole!

Nearest the pin in 3 on the 10th:.

Mark Hill, followed by Gordon - in the hole!

.

Nearest the pin on the 18th:

Goochy, beaten by Colin

Lynley pretty close to an ace on the 12th.
Where's nearest the pin when you want it?

Longest Drive on the 13th , Ladies:

Shelley

Some running repairs necessary?

Longest Drive on the 13th, Men:

Mark Hill (out of sight!)

Lynne makes sure she won't collapse the left wrist on her putts

And the Golden Hole went off!!

Goochy wins the sum total of $17, but apparently still has to shout the bar!

There was a suggestion that perhaps he could pass a hat around to augment this rather unexceptional figure - that may have to go to a referendum.

Oh no! It's Golfing for Dogs now...

.
The Mutt Poops and Putts

Who got the birdies?

Goochy on the 3rd and 6th

.

Popey on the 14th

.

Gary on the 7th

Mark Hill on the 4th

Lynley on the 12th

Gim on the 16th

Gordon on the 10th

.

And the winners on the day:

.

.Congratulations, guys

SPRING CUP ROUND 2

.

The second round of the Spring Cup

.

Yes, it was still technically winter..

The ducks taking an interest on
what's happening on the 2nd green

But the weather was beautifully spring-like

.

Perth at its very best

Earle trespassing on the 12th

Some of us had not distinguished ourselves on the first round

So no pressure today

The only thing we turned up for, really.

We were reminded, there’s no wipe when you’re playing stroke. If you don’t complete the hole, or you have a disaster, it’s a 10 for pars 4 & 5, and a 7 for a par 3. You don’t get to DQ - you take the maximum stroke.

Lynne's ball resting on a tuft over a hole

Karl has completed three rounds, and has applied for membership of SOS. The committee will consider.

This is Karl

Some novel novelties today:

.

Nearest the bunker on the 5th (without going in) - Keith, beaten by Derek

.

Nearest in three on the 8th - Goochy, beaten by Popey

.

Women’s longest drive on the 13th - Carol, Vicky, Lynley, then Steph (by a mile!)

Men’s longest drive on the 13th - Vicky (?), beaten by Popey, Gary, Pugsy and then Coops.

NTP on the 18th, Keith, Earle, Gary and Steph!

Today’s results:

.

.
So, the first few placings  for the Spring Cup:

Steph, with                                 143
Gary and Paul Gardner with       148
Gerry with                                   151
Paul Cooper with                        153
Lynne and Peter with                  154
Shelley, Goochy,and Derek with 155

A clear winner - congratulations, Steph!

Birdies for Goochy and Peter on the 10th

Goochy's eagle putt on the 10th

Gary on the 18th, Gardy on the 4th and 15th (both par 5s)

Carol flirts with Danger on the 14th
(and someone else on the 15th)

No birthdays today

We welcomed Vicky back after a six-month lay-off

.

And of course, we had the sausage sizzle to look forward to

.

Special thanks to Carol, Shelley, Earle, Vicky, Goochy who helped get it all together

And extra treats with excellent chicken strips, and a range of fine wines.

Just another great day with SOS

Next week, Club Championships, Round 6 of 7

SPRING CUP, ROUND ONE

SPRING CUP, ROUND 1 - STROKE

.

It was cold

.

Suprisingly cold

.

But clear, and reasonably still

The three Pauls!

None of which explains why good scores were hard to come by

The three girls

The eager anticipation of an Eagles win

Obviously not

The thorn between two roses

Perhaps the excitement of a World Cup quarter final

Possibly

Birgit and friend supporting the Matildas

However, the game seems to have been generally enjoyed in a good spirit

Judging by the generosity displayed at the bar

And the donations to the Jeans for Genes charity

(Our last week of donations)

.

Glen Kelly has possibly established a record with a six-putt on the 15th

(Although there is talk of Steph having made a similar figure on the 9th way back one day when the flag was in a particularly nasty position)

.

And Goochy has laid claim to the distinction of failing to hit a single fairway all afternoon (yes, it was one of those sort of days)

Peter goes punk

So, the first round results:

.

Winners!

And there were birdies:

Lynley on the sixth

Glenn Kelly on the seventh

Glen Pope on the seventh,

Gary on the seventeenth

and Paul Gardner, who got off to a scorching start with birdies on the second and fourth

Show me the lollies!

.

Next week - a sausage sizzle with, apparently, a twist. More will be revealed when you get there, but there will be special treats (straight to Perry Lakes after the game, no hanging around at the bar)

Man of Mystery

It's Colin!

The Golden Hole failed to go off, although Shelley would like to note that she “came close”. Goochy chose his club carefully and managed to go 50m past the hole - possibly mistook the 6 for a 9, easily done.

Keith on the Golden Hole..

.not scaring the pin today

The Longest Drive ladies on the fourth, claimed today by Steph

The mens’ Longest Drive, on the same hole. Boris, then Pug Dog, then Paul Gardner. He would like to note that he went “miles past”!

.

Nearest the Pin in two on the sixth, we had 4D, but trumped by Lynley who put it “in the hole”!

And nearest the pin in two on the thirteenth, Earle first, then Gim, but Karl got even closer.

Karl brings his golfing talents to winning the raffle

A novel novelty on the seventeenth, the Longest Putt, saw Boris, beaten by Peter, but extended even further by Gary.

And perhaps sledge of the day - Goochy noted that Glen had to rush off, as he had a bullfight to attend.

el Matador!
