25 SOS golfers ventured out to Lake Claremont, the lovely, but tricky 3 Par golf course. Members had to dust their carry bags and get the chipping and putting skills ready.
What happened on the course?
Not much was reported, we only got those 2 shots from group #6, the other groups were probably too busy concentrating playing golf.
Keith, Gerry, Carol and Mark H
Gerry, Carol, Birgit and Mark
Back in the clubhouse the members were served yummy food by the lovely staff of the Golf club. Drenching the thirst was the first priority though.
But what about the results? 2 trophies were up for grabs. Best net & best gross score.
Richard Osborne with a NET score of 24 👏👏👏
Rumors are that Richard went to the course 4 x per week during the last few months to practice chipping and putting. Well, it was worth it. Congrats.
Keith Barrow with a GROSS score of 30. 👏👏👏
Is Carol admiring her husband or is she wondering whether there is still enough space on the mantelpiece for yet another trophy? 😂
The "leftovers" having yet another drink and another tale to tell.
LONE RANGER or THE YELLOW BALL COMPETITION
Our Saturday competition all evolved around playing the yellow ball. The golfers were sorted into teams of 4, each team got a yellow ball and had to play what seemed like a normal Stableford competition, but the Stableford points of the yellow ball had to be added to the lowest score. A couple of messy scorecards have been viewed by the captain.
But let's first see what happened before the tee-off.
Teammates Barry & Greg looking confident playing the yellow ball.
Gary seems to prefer playing a pink ball.
Mitch & James, new members becoming regulars
Richard looks sharp and can be considered as the best-dressed guy of the day.
Insider info reveals that his wife didn't wash his SOS golf shirt after the 3 Par competition.
Mark S. hiding around the corner giving Tiger Woods a call for a last-minute coaching session.
Team 1 at the starting tee, Pugdog was seen trying to first kiss the Captains wife then the Coach.
Teammates Gerry and Ian look confident as well. Gerry's putting practise must have went well.
Vickie and Mark H about to hop into their cart.
James the winner of last weeks comp in deep conversation with Richard, Thursdays winner. Let's have a look how they did this weekend.
Here the Stableford results:
TJ is back with good results after a long SOS golf break and Mark W and Mark S on the podium the 2nd week in a row.
And the results of the yellow ball team comp
The Golden Hole jackpotted (is that an English verb?)
Congratz to the winning team (minus Richard, who had left already)
Scenes from the clubhouse:
Derek didn't play, but missed the group that much he showed up for a drink in the clubhouse.
He even won a ball for Francis (#26 it was).
Fran we miss you! Hope you'll be back soon
It was hot, even Steph enjoyed a cold glass of beer.
That's how we know her. Sorry Steph 😆
