Match Play Semi Finals

A touch of spring weather today as the sun shone, the skies were blue and the wind calm!!

The Semi Finals of the Match Play competition was the main event as 13 other members contested a stableford competition on the Tuart Course.

Brett Fordham and Frances Longhurst played their semi final round earlier in the week. Here they are sunning themselves on the 15th tee, before the winner had emerged!

Earle Scarff and Tony Gooch on the first tee and ready to start their match play semi final competition!

Shelly's Golden Hole!
Shelly's tee shot on the par 3 hole 6 flew to within a metre of the hole, but the birdie putt just lipped out to the right side!#*!*  The following three photos tell the story, as Richard Osborne looks on.

How many 'lip-outs' were experienced by players today?

Club Captains Address

In the absence of Brett, Gerry took the floor to announce the competition results.

Semi Final Match Play Results

Two very close matches were fought to secure a place in the final round for the SOS Match Play Champion for 2021, with Brett winning over Frances on the 17th hole and Earle taking the honors over Tony on the final hole!

Congratulations to Brett and Earle, and also to Sandy and Vickie who were confident enough to bid for their 'man' and will share in the $1,000 raffle pot! The win takes 80% and the runner-up 20%.

Eagles & Birdies

No Eagles today, but no less than 8 players scored a birdie, with 4 won on hole 7!
Must have been the warm weather bringing on a shower of birdies?!

Birthdays

Only one member has a birthday in August, and that is James Weaver who has not been seen playing in recent times! Happy Birthday James for today, the 14th !!

Raffle

Greg Bennett claimed 1st prize in the raffle and the $10 note and a multi-hued scratchie.

Ash Tray and Fines

Richard Osborne took the honors for the lowest score and called out the list of fines!
As usual, there were numerous acts of abhorrent golf play enabling members to empty their pockets of surplus coins.

Richard O calls out the list of fines.

Next 2 Weeks

The Spring Cup will be played over the next 2 weeks on the Tuart Course (21st August) and the Old Course (28th August). This is a stableford competition with the highest aggregate score over the two weeks being declared the winner.

With the days warming up, at least today, the snakes will start to stir !
