Another early 8.00am start for the final of the 2020 Match Play final being held on the Tuart Course between Bernie Caffrey and Stephanie Jeffares.
Stephanie's shirt is emblazoned with New Zealand motif while Bernie's
appears to be of northern hemisphere origin!
Beautiful spring weather with clear blue skies and light winds provided optimal conditions for play.
The pair squared off on the putting green before heading for the First Tee accompanied by match referee Earle Scarff and Club Captain Gary Burgess.
The tension was palpable as the group headed down the slope!
Meanwhile, the rest of the SOS players prepared for a Stableford Competition.
Derek, Barry and Gerry warming up in the sunshine!
Ian, Brett and Tony about to depart down the fairway.
Tony, Colin and Derek with drivers at the ready !
One way to score a hole in one!
Players assembled at the Clubhouse for the post match review.
Stableford Results
Congratulations to Don Beesley who scored 39 points to beat Colin Kerr by 3 points, with Derek just one point behind in 3rd place! Don's score was all the more memorable as it included an Eagle on the 15th and a birdie on the 2nd hole.
Colin took 2nd place with 36 stapleford points.
Derek was 1 point behind with 35 points !
And Kerry experienced an 'off' day resulting in a bag of lollies
and the privilege of reading out the fines list!
Novelties
Some lively competition for the novelty holes with the winners being the grinners.
Particularly for Gerry who left his run a bit late but was the last player to tee off in the last group on the last hole and, while not a hole in one, he cleaned up with a nice birdie and closest to the pin!
Birdies
Congratulations to the following for above average golfing !
Eagles
Congratulations to Don for scoring an Eagle on the par 5, 15th hole!
