IRISH STABLEFORD

To be sure, it happens every year, and to celebrate we play Irish Stableford, which means you add up how many you score but you don't count everyone, except you do once you get to some other holes, but to begin with it's two or three but only for some of the holes, so ....oh, never mind. Gary will work it all out.

Paul gets into the swing of things Irish
Sibling rivalry today

A fairly lacklustre expression of Irishness today, possibly explained by everyone wanting to show off their new SOS shirts. I mean, just take a look at these historical pictures from the SOS archive:

Ah well - we'll all try harder next year.

And a team game for a change, with five teams participating.

Man in black
Today's the day!

But individual Stableford scores were entered as well, although no prize for today's Stableford winner.

Harsh, but fair.

Please feel free to try

We welcomed Tony for another round at SOS.

Somehow I think I know who at SOS would have said this..

Tony has applied for membership, and only needs one more round before the committee will pronounce.

Pronounce what?

According to the Guiness Book of Records, the hardest word to pronounce is Chrzqszcz.

This is, of course, the Polish for beetle.

But we digress. The exciting news today is that the Golden Hole went off.

Congratulations to Ian, who could probably do with a new set of tires on that 4WD having

circumnavigated Australia several times in the last few months.

Feeling pretty confident at this stage

Today was a team event, but there were novelties.

(We should mention that someone who prefers to remain anonymous commented that it was

unfair having nearest the pin in two on the seventh because none of the girls could reach it in

two.)

Well, it's not until Tuesday anyway

And we kept a note of the individual stableford scores.

Well done, Barry. Unfortunately not enough to carry the rest of your team home.

The bookend pair

Barry and Tony certainly hitting a good stretch of form over the last few weeks. Does anyone

have an old bent putter they wouldn't mind lending.

...but not at SOS

Now for the Irish Stableford competition. The results were close, with two places determined by

countback, but only one winning team.

A team effort, all contributed..

Tony James had his second game with us, scoring a creditable 102 off the stick.

Next week, it's the AGM, so after the game we will decamp to Perry Lakes, (weather permitting),

where there will be food and refreshments.

In the meantime, here's some fun golf to enjoy
