Welcome to the lull - that wonderful period from after Christmas until whenever we decide to get back to serious business. For some of us, of course, that period can last for several months.
A serious case of the blues?? |
A good turn out on a very pleasant Saturday afternoon, and some pretty solid scores from most people - a score of 36 doesn't even get you in the top six.
I try to tell them, it's no good putting the scores down before you've played the hole |
Green fees at Wembley have inevitably gone up again - for now, Glen will take $45 each week. This is a slight overpayment, but will be returned to you once the committee decide on how to handle the increase effectively.
We don't want any funny captions on our photo, thank you. |
It's that time of year when people think of new year's resolutions, and for many that will be "join a nice friendly club like SOS", so thanks to everyone who took a membership flyer this week. Do try to either give it to a potential recruit, or put it up somewhere that people will see it, like your local supermarket, food court or whatever.
We're planning a golf evening at the Claremont par 3 on Thursday 31st January. There'll be nine holes of golf followed by a meal, with tee-off at around 5:30. Put it in your diaries, details will follow.
I gather we've been fined for gossiping |
Here's one from the archives.
Peter's so nearly hole in one, back in February |
The novelties certainly gave people a run for their money today - the longest drive marker managed to record six names, although Brett's drive to win soared many metres past the next closest contender - a truly huge effort.

Just giving Max some wardrobe guidance |
Some very solid scores for today's game - no trophy but plenty of kudos.

An emphatic win from Brett, who we gather played some pretty flawless golf, with three birdies and two four-pointers off his handicap of twelve.
He's getting harder and harder to beat |
Commiserations to Earle, with a very creditable forty points. And many thanks to Thomas for his generous sponsorship - good to see you back playing, too.
Always a pleasure |
Next week, it's the New Year's Cup, a stroke competition on the Tuart. See you there.
