SOS Cup, Round 2

Taking that advice to heart

Stormy, raining, strong winds? Not a bit of it, maybe a touch humid, but otherwise a most clement 29 degrees.

Charmaine getting on the right side of the Marshall

And the second round of the SOS Cup - plenty still in contention after the first round last week.

Scroll down to the end for the answer.

And we were all chatting away before we realised there was no-one on the tee and the last group had hit off ages OK.

You can call me Earp, Wyatt Earp that is.

All getting a bit blasé about it.

Never mind, it's only a game...

And Greg had a rather eventful journey in today.

Didn't seem to have too much effect on his game.

I wouldn't want to be a member of a club that would have me for a member

Birthdays - Frances coming up during the week. Glen soon.

There have been comments that the blog is too frivolous, so let's get serious and look at some misunderstood rules.

Brenda gets, not a hole in one, but one in a hole.

Start with this one:

Rule of the Week: 27-2 Provisional Ball

If a ball may be lost outside a water hazard, or may be out of bounds, to save time the player may play another ball provisionally in accordance with Rule 27-1. The player must inform his opponent or his marker that he intends to play a provisional ball, and he must play it before he or his partner goes forward to search for the original ball.

Importantly - he must inform, and he must use the term "provisional ball", not just "I'll hit another one" or some variant thereof, or the struck ball becomes the ball in play. Also, once the player has gone forward, he has lost the opportunity to play a provisional ball. He can't go and search, then return to the tee to hit a "provisional" - if he hits another ball it's now the ball in play.

Golden Hole failed to go off, so it jackpots to $86. Now, steady with those carts

Dave's got his licence back....

Don't drink and drive. Don't even putt.

Good to see Eric again, and his score? a very creditable 87 off the stick, amounting to a nett 72.
