SOS Cup round 2

Kindly sponsored by Richard Yeo.

It was a fine day for the second round of the SOS Cup, and some low scoring was expected.

We had a couple of Special Guests as Bernie brought along her fella, Farmer Matt all the way from Northam.

Now those that know Matt understand that he's not actually a fan of golf, so what dedication it was to see him driving the cart around!!
Good on ya Matt, you're a top bloke!

We also had the return of Tom for his second official round with SOS, we clearly haven't put him off yet, so a big welcome back to him!

The usual reprobates were hitting the driving range with gusto,

See you can shorten that backswing babe.

And maybe i should lengthen mine, and straighten that front arm!

Just look at that set-up,,,, brilliant!

whilst others were taking other precautions.

Have to say the hat suits you Derek.

Plus it was even better when you 'ambushed' Brett later that day, sneaking up on him through the bush.

Birthdays
The birthday cake award for this week goes to the lovely Fran. I do hope you will be getting spoiled tonight.

RWC Update
The expected happened with both NZ and Australia winning, though never without controversy.

From the neutrals point of view, NZ just scraped over the line with a last minute dubious penalty and other suspicious decisions throughout the game
but that's rugby for good or bad.

So where's ya money guys? And who's gonna choke,,,,, oh how i wish it was 2007 heheheheh!

Roll on the weekend

There were a couple of goodies, and i'll let you make up your own reference points and background stories to add to your amusement:-

Derek-- "Last time you said it was too long!"

Dick-- "I've won a gold medal, it's really embarrassing!"

Fran-- "That's the best offer i've had for a while"

Derek-- "I've taken a bullet for you Kerry, I deserve a Purple Heart"

Fines of the Week
Only a couple of "match fines" worth mentioning,,,,, and they stay within the Yeo family,,,,

Malcolm-- for forgetting his golf shoes,,, again!

Shelley-- The wine spiller, after knocking over a couple of smalls bottles of fizzy**

SOS Cup round 1

Beautifully sponsored by Malcolm.

well what a day that was!!!!! Plenty of action all over.

Firstly and foremost our thoughts go out to the injured warrior Derek, felled by a stray shot, and rushed away by the lovely Fran.
Thankfully all is ok and Derek is only a bit battered and bruised, and off to the Army Surplus store to purchase some safety gear.

I don't know if there was something in the air but i felt the need on the long trek down to the shortened 1st on the Tuart to take this particular picture,,,,

But that was more for any "losing control of equipment" or if anybody saw young Peter on the driving range, his sudden loss of balance!
And no it wasn't in mid-stroke!!!
Thankfully he too was ok.

It was a BIG WELCOME BACK to Glenn, our intrepid traveller, and Richard Osborne where a SPECIAL CONGRATULATIONS must go to the most modest
GOLD MEDAL WINNER,,,,,i have ever met!!!!!

We also had the pleasure of a couple other guests, namely Tom, Greg and Eddie,,, glad we haven't scared you all off,,, yet,,,  though i do apologise for losing the note of your scores,, oooppppsss sorry gents.

Some of us once again decided practice was important warming up on both the range and the putting green.

Blimey, that one's gone straight! Looks good for today!!

I'm going to putt like a demon today.

Just look at that shoulder turn!

Just after the little stumble,,,, i'm ok, i'm ok!!!

Just practising my punch shots.

And off it was for the long trek down to the first.
Hi ho, hi ho, it's down the hill we go,,,,,

And then came the wait as we decided whether to lay up, or gamble to take on the green.
Phil McKeague unfortunately gambled and was misled by Coach saying he had seen it drop just in the rough. However it wasn't anywhere to be seen and he had to retire back to fire up again,,,,,

I also tried to go for the green, but having only just managed to strike the little white thing (i was aiming for the one in the middle!) it dribbled down about 100m,,,, Golf wins again.

funny old game,,,,,,,,,,,, underwater chess, now that's a funny old game

Much love before the game.

Getting everything ready and ship shape.

The wait,,, the dreaded first tee wait.

Birthdays
None that i can recollect, so apologies if i've missed anybody out.

RWC Update
A very eventful weekend on the rugby front with some very close games and NONE of the home nations competing for the Cup this time round.

SA just getting over the line against the Welsh 23-19

The Kiwis smashing France 62-13

The Argies (unfortunately for me!) playing out of their skins to defeat the Paddies 43-20.

And the Aussies getting over the line with a last minute (dubious) penalty against the Scots 35-34.

No complaints from me about the standard of the reffing, but it certainly had an influence in a couple of the games.

Semi-Finals
SA v NZ
Aus v Argies

As i mentioned on Saturday i was holding back on the Caption Comp Winner until i got a couple more votes,,, and it gives me great pleasure to award this weeks prize to

My Beautiful wife, Kerry for an fantastically apt and even psychic quote:-

"Throwing in the towel already Stan, and you're not even a member yet!"

Bloody brilliant!!!!

And get ready for this weeks beauty, where i hope and expect to get plenty of fun filled phrases,,,,

Come on guys and gals and get your entrants in x.

Quotes of the Week
As Malcolm landed close to a tree, he was heard to utter
"that's the first time i've been on a root for a while"

Lynne after taking a photo of the ducks on the 9th and hitting 2 balls into the pond
"That'll serve me right for becoming the new Wildlife Officer"

Nice pic tho!!

Fine of the Week
i'd have loved to give this to Peter after seeing the little stumble on the range, but you gathered your pose incredibly quickly, too quickly for me to either help or grab my camera,,,,, so i don't have any proof.

So there can be only winner, and that's Brett for forgetting the Raffle!!!

Next Week
Next week is the second round of the SOS Cup and we're back onto the Old Course, so let's bring the A-games and have a proper battle for the Cup.

Date for the Diary
Please put the date of 21st November in your diaries as this is the date for the Function of the Year, our Annual Club Dinner.
This is a truly fantastic evening of eating, drinking, merriment and the celebration of all the victories throughout the year.

This year we will be having it at the Wembley Hotel in the Red Room.

More details, timings, menu choices etc will be forthcoming in the very near future but please do your best to attend and get that date locked in!!!!!
