Once again the rivalry was resumed with the SOS playing the WABGA (WA Blind Golfers Assoc for the uninitiated!),,, and WHAT A DAY!!!!
The forecast was checked by all and sundry, and we all hoped it wasn't going to come true.
Being a Fair Weather Player myself (having hardly played at all in the UK as a result of this affliction!) I was hoping that once we got to the club house the Management would declare it 'too wet' with flooded greens, thus we could all retire to the bar and tell amusing golfing anecdotes.
Alas that wasn't to be.
It was even too wet for the ducks!
Two of the WABGA Team saw sense (sensible buggers!) and decided to pull the pin and cancel.
Even the one that should be used to the rain, our Leprechaun Bernie, decide it was too wet and pulled the pin!
That left us with 4 matches,,,,,,
though there was some pre-match
positivity,,,,,,
Just look at those smiles!!!
Pre-match pysching out!
Gordon looking a tad 'under the weather',,,, but he made it!
Team Selection Update
Brett was in, Brett was out,,,,,,,, back in again, then back out again,,,
The WABGA team had heard his reputation and ran for the hills.
Eventually we tee'd off in the glorious rain, which according to Peter was going to 'clear up' at 11am
The ducks running for cover!!!
Peter was wrong,,,,,,
Unfortunately although some decent golf was played by a few of us, and after i ran out Medicinal Brandy (very bad planning!),,,, sense took over and the two Presidents conferred,,,,
and the Competition was called off after 9 holes!
The Result
WABGA 3-1
Well done to the WABGA Team again, who retain the trophy.
Earle handing over the Trophy and the Donation to John.
Soaked wet and ever so slightly miserable, we all trudged to the bar!
Thankfully some nibbles were laid on- thanks Brett and normal festivities were resumed.
Mmmm warming food
T
Brett- 'my big hitting scared them off eh?'
after a slut on the first,, hehehehe
T
The boys thawing out with a pint of the
finest.
Summary
So another competition over, and another win to the WABGA.
For the first time in my memory we had to call off the game after nine, but as always the fines, the food and the friendship made up for the poor conditions,,,
Well done to ALL THOSE WHO PLAYED,,,,,
Plus don't forget, since we never made it for the full 18 holes the GOLDEN HOLE still hasnt gone off,,,, so it's up to a decent amount!
Here's to sunnier climes for next week.
GOOD LUCK TO THOSE PLAYING IN KALGOORLIE NEXT WEEK!
(and big sorry to Phil who didn't make the cut, you will be sorely missed!!!!!)
Next week's Competition
