First, a thank you to our celebrity blogger, Paul, who has entertained and informed us over the last two weeks.
And a welcome to celebrity blogger Peter, who will be looking after us for the next three weeks.
In the meantime, the second round of the Summer Cup. Currently held by Max, will someone else be able to wrest it from his grasp this week?
Well, they most probably will wrest it from Max, as he didn't play last week and it's a two week competition.
Some of last weeks leaders didn't quite live up to ours and their expectations this week
Prompting Richard Yeo to observe that "the gods have feet of clay"
Upon which we mentioned that this expression derived from the classic poem Ozymandias, by Shelley. (That's Percy Bysshe Shelley, not Shelley Yeo). Interestingly, on Googling, it appears that Shelley was himself inspired by the dream of Nebuchadnezzar King of Babylon, as recounted in the Book of Daniel:
This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass,
His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay. (Daniel 2:31-33)
Which, whilst of passing interest, has little relevance to today's golf, so moving on.. ....
Richard had some fun with an unplayable in the trees

The novelties provided some keen competition, but the Golden Hole remains unclaimed.
Ross was unfortunately retired hurt. We wish him a speedy recovery.
And so the results for today. An exceptional round from Brett.
But the summer cup runs over two weeks, so the aggregate scores look like this.
Meaning our very worthy winner of the Summer Cup today is Glen. Congratulations!!

And as a special treat we handed out some of our other trophies that have now been engraved. Thank you, Gary

Not forgetting Paul's absolutely cracker of a hole in one at the Par 3 competition last week at Lake Claremont
And let's not forget the raffle
