Stableford, Tuart Course, 30 November 2013

Tuart Course, Wembley Golf Complex, 30 November 2013.

Stableford
Prize sponsor: Shelley?

Again on the Tuart Course this week. Variable weather, a bit windy and a shower that got me hiding in the bush for 3 minutes.
No big dramas today, ...just that the Jackpot hole had been changed from #12 to #15...except that for once that I got it (the ball hit the pin and rested 80cm away) it was then actually ruled that the #15 could have not been a Jackpot hole. Damn!
It was not a lucky day for me anyway, generally. My drive on #6 ended up behind a tree and set into a lose branch, basically unplayable. But I played it ... I should have not... it was a pick up.

Scores.

Par Plus, Tuart Course, 23 November 2013

Tuart Course, Wembley Golf Complex, 23 November 2013.

Par Plus
Prize sponsor: Colin

Par plus today. Not a big turn up, but we still manager to field 5 groups.
Summery weather, sun throughout the day, occasional wind.

No eagles, no hole in one, no jackpot hole won. Few dramas here and there, particularly when Paul G inexplicably snapped his 3 wood on #13, the club head travelled further than the ball.

When clubs have enough

But still a very pleasant golf day.

SOS Annual Dinner - 16 November 2013

Delightful night at Shelley and Mal's residence.
We enjoyed every minute of it, starting from the welcome reception, drinks and nibbles.
The dinner was of high quality, the service very friendly.
We recapped the past golf season and gave a few awards. Apologies if Glen was on almost all of the photos, it's not my fault!
The president Kerry even prepared this poem for us:

SOS Golf Club

SOS Golf Club have a Saturday meet
First 30 minutes for a practice and greet
Who am I drawn with, how will I play
Practice went well could this be my day

First drive is perfect, straight and true
Middle of fairway, now follow through
Second shot woeful, deep in the rough
Getting ball out is going to be tough

Finally on green, sitting just fine
One putt hurray, but still took nine!
Rest of the game a very mixed lot
Flashes of brilliance, the rest not so hot

Eighteenth hole, oh what a drive
It’s that feeling you get that keeps golf alive
Finish with Par is inconceivable
Chip in for birdie that’s unbelievable!

Now to the members that make up the club
The consistent attendees, the central hub
We have the big hitters
We have the bull shitters
We have holes in one
We play in the sun

And last but not least our hard working committee
Peter our Treasurer, who looks after the kitty
Glen, booking officer that makes up the draw
Earle our Captain, who checks every score
Judith, Vice Captain our novelty maker
Lorenzo, Communications Offer, photograph taker
Entertainments team, Shelley, Bernie and Steph
Is that the lot, now who have we left
Me of course President, heading the team
Weekly golf, sunshine I’m living the dream

And, unofficially Vickie, who updates Golf Link
and here is where I want you to think
Now ask yourself, could I help out too
Now really, honestly what could I do
Before it’s too late, step up to the plate
Stand for Committee, throw your name in the hat
It isn’t that hard and that will be that
To show that you care
Step up take you share

(Written by: Kerry Gardner – 2013 President, SOS Golf Club)

Thanks Kerry, also on behalf of Gary, for including him in your poem :))))))

The Secret Santa and a game of indoor bowling completed the evening.

Thanks to you all, particularly Shelley and Mal for their hospitality.
