SOS GOLF - Tuart Course - Stroke 7 March 2020

A very pleasant late summer's day welcomed one of the largest contingents in some time of SOS members for a round of Stroke on the Tuart Course.

There was much chatter around the booking table as Derek handed out the new SOS golf group shirts which are emblazoned with the name of our generous sponsor Lot Six Zero eatery and espresso bar !

There were no shortage of players willing to disport themselves in their new finery!

This should knock a few shots
off our handicaps !
Our sponsor inspires us to a new level of excellence !

Many thanks to Derek for applying his considerable organisational skills to the production
of these new SOS Golf Group shirts.

Even our putting appears
to have improved?
What more can I say ?

Colin Kerr and Greg Bennett  - life members !

Glen Pope's generous sponsorship is gratefully acknowledged
by SOS Golf Group !

As is not uncommon, the journey from 1st tee to the 18th hole did not all go smoothly for many players. Stephanie was particularly challenged on the 9th hole when her recovery shot from a sliced drive ended up in the hollow of a fallen tree trunk!

Are chainsaws a permitted accessory?
Stephanie's 2nd shot on the 9th hole was unplayable, but
she recovered well after taking a drop !

However, many excellent shots were made including Earle's tee shot on the 18th hole which came very close to a hole in one!
Another near 'hole-in-one' miss!

However, it was Lynne Malone, who admitted to not having played for quite a while, that took the winners prize with very respectable net 70 on a 15 handicap!

Nice to be back from the holidays !

The results included 7 birdies, a considerable improvement on previous weeks . . . .

Many new shirts in evidence as members gather
for the results, fines and raffle !

The missed putt !

BTW, there was a report today of women stripping off in the car park. My first thought was this is the sort of club I want to be a member of.

Apparently it was something to do with the new shirts.

SOS GOLF - Old Course Par Comp - 29 February 2020

A slightly muggy day with good cloud cover greeted members for the scheduled Par Bisque competition. However, a late call from the Club Vice-Captain changed the format to Par  which, as I understand it, enabled members to participate in the IGA $50 weekly competition and for the club to receive gift cards from Wembley Golf.

A number of card scoring methods were attempted in the earlier holes with most players falling in to line by the 18th!

Ready to rumble ! !

Here are the first group ready to see if they can get down, or around, the dogs leg on the first hole!
The weather forecast was for possible showers in the morning however, the rain clouds in the background failed to precipitate!

At the end of the round this group produced
a 2nd, 4th, 6th & 19th placings

The par format took its toll on many otherwise consistent players with the inevitable number of  magnificent approach shots being destroyed by the short game inconsistencies!

How many putts did it take ! !

GOLDEN HOLE

Some nearside green shots were holed out and long putts were dropped, but the Golden Hole did not go off taking its total to around $125 or thereabouts.

Why did the ball decide to stop there !!
Bernie's  fine T shot on the 11th hole narrowly missed being bunkered and,
her 2nd shot was also cleanly hit and advanced nicely toward the green!

THE RESULTS

Keith Barrow won the competition and a $45 gift voucher on a count-back from Tony Gooch.
The results of the par competition, which included 7 birdies, were:
