Match Play, Round 2

Match Play - the game where an eight is a good score, as long as your opponent has a nine.
John having a bad hair day while Paul has a no hair day

Nice to be back, and a big thanks to Vickie for standing in for all the Presidential duties, including the blog, at the same time as moving house and all sorts of other stuff.

Lots of fun today, and some very close games in the most beautiful of playing conditions. Most of the world doesn't have winters like this.

Today we said goodbye to Eric, who'll be up on site from now. We've really enjoyed having you, Eric, and do make sure to drop in whenever you can.

John Messenger managed to win fine of the week, with a magnificent effort on the fifth. Having lost his ball in the trees, he finally managed to find it. Having the wrong club in his hand, he left the club by the ball to mark its position, then went forward to get the correct club. Returning to the ball, he could no longer find it, nor the club he had left to mark its position.

Having finally recovered the ball, he managed to drop it within a metre of the pin from a very tricky lie. So - a fine and a clap, John.

And thinking of wins, no-one managed to win the "who's legs are these?" comp from last week. Here they are again:

Still haven't got it? They were Derek's - in a bit of a state after chasing through the prickles in pursuit of the elusive Iolas Blue.

Deceptively good strikers of the ball

Shaping up for a good contest
Your hard working entertainments sub-committee is planning a "French" evening to celebrate Bastille Day. (July 14th, to save you looking it up). There'll be French-themed eats and drinks, and possibly can-can, at a venue to be announced, around 6pm.

A message our club is pleased to take to heart

Eric has very kindly donated his super extra ergonomic folds down to absolutely nothing buggy to be auctioned for club funds.

So - here it is, in good as new condition, fully accessorised:

It's the Clicgear Rovic RV1S Buggy Charcoal/Black

Let's say highest bid received by 1 July and it's yours. Retails for around $269 at Golfbox, but I don't think they have any in stock at the moment.

Email your bid to me here (I'll keep it confidential)

derekcva@gmail.com

Check out the price and details here:

Two blokes who aren't rushing back because their wives are still at work!

So, who's picked up another two points in the Match Play?

Well, it was only a small win..

One more week of Match Play before we find out who's made the cut to the last eight.

Next week it's Par, on the Tuart, before the third qualifying round of the Match Play on June 30. And just remember, if you really want to be better at golf, go back and take it up at a much earlier age!

WA Week Cup

9 June 2018 – Stableford - Tuart Course

Quote of the day:  Of all the hazards, fear is the worst. Sam Snead

Brett searching for his ball: Please stop checking your watch all the time. It's too much of a distraction.
Partner helping in the search: It's not a watch - it's a compass

Caption Competition continues as no entries
Whose legs are these!!!
Clues:  Male but not Brett, born later than 1950, did not play last week.

Luckily the wet weather waited until after the game.  No Perrylakes sausage sizzle but we all enjoyed hot wedges after the game!!!

Thank goodness President Derek and Master Blogster will be back next week!
