Stableford Comp on the Old Course

Sponsored by the good ol' SOS, you beauty!

A small field hit the course as a few members heard about the heat predicted and headed to the coast to dip in the sea and cool off rather than face the rather tepid day as the temperature reached a balmy 38.

Some of the Stalwarts did brave the heat, and despite the initial trepidation the scores were pretty bloody good.

The weather didn't put off the 'Return of the Denim' as the keen traveller Colin made a very welcome return and showed us his sartorial elegance

There was also a welcome back to Tomothy, with his first round back after the festivities,,,,, and a second round from Paul,,, please feel free to ask about his interesting invitation to the SOS from Gordo, it should bring a cheeky smile to your face.

Some were looking particularly confident and the mood was positive,,,,,

how that was to change!

Both of them were looking especially 'FIRM' at the beginning,,,,,, eh Phil?

Some however faired better than others,,,,, Grandpa and Grandma aka Phil &
Kerry decided that the heat was tooooooooo much, and got Glenn to call for a cart halfway round as they visibly wilted!

So on with the scores,,,,,,

A word to the wise Kingy, don't learn to putt until you get your handicap sorted! Heheheheee

NB:-  Ron-- after our round he re-named himself RC (pronounced AR*SY) as his luck with the foliage was absolutely extra-ordinary, queue the skinnied rebound on the 4th that was heading towards the road and ended up 15ft from the pin!

Novelties
NTP2 --   Shelley
NTP8 --   Ron
NTP13--  Vickie
NTP15--  Gary

Woo hoo.

Fines of the Week
Vickie -- for dropping her balls down the toilet,,,, especially as we could hear them bouncing around from the tee,,
hehehehehee

Ron -- shouldn't really be a fine, as it was an awesome idea but for us all to get naked and jump around the sprinklers to cool off!

Next Week

Is the Australia Day Cup, a stableford competition won last year by Gim
so let's have a good turn out as it's guaranteed to be cooler,,,,

plus it will be followed by the infamous sausage sizzle down at the usual place where the announcements and raffle will take place,

So come down and enjoy!!!!

And feel free to cook!!

4BBB

Beautifully sponsored by Ian Holmes.

What a great day it was to be paired up and playing 4BBB, and after a few revisions the teams were finally settled and we mosied off for a walk and whack.

Oh i nearly forgot,,,,, but it was my beautiful wife's, Kerry's BIRFDAY on the day, so she was royally treated to sharing a cart to save her energies for a night out in Leederville

And as you will find out later, this was not the only treat for the day!!!
Eh Brett?

The beauty with this game is you simply play your 'Natural' game and hope that when you muck up, that your partner doesn't.
As the score shows, some teams dovetailed whist others didnt!
Hehehee

There was a BIG WELCOME to our two guests, newbie Paul,,,, and to Alan,,,,, and also to our beloved Gim,,,,

Unfortunately there was also a FAREWELL as we wave off The Big Fella Gordo who has had to leave for wetter climes at Sydney.

We're gonna miss you and you're booming voice!
So make sure you look us up if/when you come back to WA.

Not much else to report so i'll get onto the results for the day,,,,

The Results
Unfortunately i didn't write anything down, and i have the memory of a goldfish, but fortunately due to fellow members i was sent a couple of pics,,,,
one of which showed the winners Gordon & Derek receiving the prize from Ian!

What a great way to sign off Gordo,,, well done mate, and enjoy your next adventure.

The only other result i remember, apart from Nola & I beating Birfday Kerry & Brett........
Was that Gim, on her return game, brought up the rear and took home the lollies,,, unlucky Gim

The Guests
Paul scored a cheeky 95
Alan a 94

Well done guys and hope to see ya again soon!

The Novelties
NTP9   Stan 'The Man' Tan
LD6     Don 'The Enigma' Beesley
NTP11 Glenn 'The Style' Pope
NTP12 Peter 'The WeatherMan' Baird

Nice work peeps, all go away a ball richer!

The Golden Hole

And what a shot it was,,,, as Stan 'The Man' Tan walked away with the life-changing amount of $20!!!!
Don't spend it all at once dude,,,, hehehee

Seriously tho it was a great shot as you can see by the picture above.

Now then, what else is there,,,, well let's head into the fines,,,

Fines of the Week
Birfday Kerry--- has to be fined heavily (and was!) for an extreme bout of Tourettes and Excessive Swearing.
The air was indeed blue as Kerry exhibited a great variety of expletives throughout the round.
Proud of ya babe!

And then there was Brett.
Brett--- who decided to give Kerry a birfday present on the 16th, literally presenting her with his 'ball bag'
And yes it was a bag that carries balls,,, hehehee

Kerry & Nola--- for confusion over the cards,,, having decided to hedge their bets and get a card each for the Tuart and the Old Courses.
Nice try ladies!

And lastly, the fine that stirred The Rule Nazi into action:-
Gary--- for shaking a tree to see if his ball was there, and when it did finally drop and not being sure if it constituted a penalty shot!

Random Pics
Thanks to those who sent me a couple of offerings!
Fortunately my tech issues have been resolved, so Paul 'David Bailey' Gardi will be back in action on saturday,,,
tho i still appreciate any offerings that people want to send through,,

Plus please enjoy this link to a lovely little ditty:-

Nola hiding from the paparazzi

Steve looking very cheeky

I've heard this is called a fairway???

There were none of these on sat, but there were a few sharks!

Next Week
Not a clue, and i'm stuck to the chair as our aircon is still broken and can't be bothered to move to the office, but i hope to see many of you there!

I just hope our aircon is fixed soon!

New Years Cup

Sponsored by the SOS.

HAPPY NEW YEAR
To One & All

And what a welcome it was to the New Year with a pretty good turn out from the Club, plus guest Jake, one what started off as a lovely day, as we played for the notorious New Years' Cup,,, which apparently is still squirrelled away by Stiff,,, who rumour has it has taken it back to her native NZ to show all her rellies that she can play the game! Hehehehe

But the cup looks a little something like this, NOT (as it isn't in kiwi colours!):-

but who was to expect that it was going to turn into a right Royal Stinker!
Even Peter 'The WeatherMan' was stumped!

Pretty much everybody suffered at some point, some earlier than others.

I had an ABSOLUTE brain fade on the 4th, after trying to dig my way back to Blighty in the bunker,,,, i decided enough was enough, and pocketed my ball,,,

briefly, and stupidly forgetting it was a stroke match.
I did consider dropping the ball back in the bunker as my playing compatriots were suitably embarrassed by my exploits that they were all looking away,,,,

but opted for the DQ instead!
Bloody Idiot!!

In addition to above, i also have to offer my apologies as my phone still isn't linked properly so i can't send pictures to my email, and therefore can access them until work has rectified this!!!

I know, i know,,,, it's the WORST BLOG IN THE WORLD EVERS AGAIN!!!

This won't be fixed until next week at the earliest so if you want to see any personal pics, you had better take some on Saturday and email them so i can include them!
Thanks in anticipation.

Anyway on with the news & results:-

Results

Derek Longhurst 84 – worth getting out of his sickbed to get the lollies and impose numerous fines on Gordon emptying his wallet!

Guest:  Jake  88 (38 on 1st 9!)

Well done to Jake, who started so well,,, but clearly the weather got to him too.

Paul Gardner DQ'd for stupidity, being hungover, and possibly a tad dehydrated!

Putting Comp
Since initially we had no Novelty Flags, due to a small mishap (more of this under Fines!), Earle decided we should have a putting competition.

After the 18 holes there was a 3-way tie on 30 putts, with Kerry, Phil McKeague & Peter all leading the pack and taking the prize.

Novelties
But ahhh hhhaaahhh (in Alan Partridge stylie)
the lovely people at Wembley lent us a set of flags that we could use, so all was well in the end:-

NTP2 Ian
NTP6 Phil McLeod
LD15 Glenn

Well done peeps.....

Golden Hole
The sum total of about $90 was not picked off by anyway, so it looks like we're awaiting the return of Char The Saffer to once again claim her potential winnings.
Though there was a rumour that my beloved, Kerry, would've won it,,,,, if only she hadn't had to play '3' from the tee

Fines of the Week
Earle--- For forgetting the Novelty Markers, after apparently Vickie had put them on top of his golf bag.
Though thanks must be given to the Wembley Team for loaning us a set.

Dave--- For needing the use of Phil McLeod's Uber Cart after dropping his card somewhere on a previous hole.

Gary--- For going home tired.
Apparently that's what happens when there's a newborn around????

Next Week
We have the great team game of 4BBB.
See ya next week dudes & dudettes!

Finally, as i don't have any pics to publish and comment on,,,

THANKS TO ALL WHO MADE OUR NEW YEAR (and KERRY's UNOFFICIAL BIRFDAY CELEBRATION SUCH FUN!!!
