American Foursomes

Great to be back
Welcome back to La Presidente, good to see her mobile again, and in fine form.

You'll remember at the AGM last year it was determined that as a way of returning excess funds to active members, your 31st game of the year will be a gift from the club.

Greg, Richard and Peter have now achieved that honour, congratulations to all three of you.
The more I practice, the better I don't get...

And a reminder that Kerry needs an email from you if you are to attend the country cup, plus notice of any guests that you are hoping to bring. The date? Spetember 29th, at Kwinana. (Don't be put off by the name - it's a lovely course).

Stableford

On the second tee. e're still smiling at this point.
Stableford on the Tuart. Rain threatened, but failed to daunt our spirits. OK, just a little. But by the fifth, most of the rain gear was back in the bag, and stayed there for the rest of the day.
Fortunately today it's not match play.

Club Championship Round 4

Sunny periods with scattered showers. Not quite up there with July 27th, but still a soggy round, with plenty of water sitting on the greens to make putting a bit hazaardous.
Four putt? Who, me?

Congratulations to Oliver and Mrs Oliver, on the birth of a daughter, and

Congratulations to Tony Lee, who has become a grandfather. Expect to see Hudson with putter in hand pretty soon.

I'm anticipating a few handicap changes this week
Novelties:

NTP (2) Ross
NTP (4) in four, with all shots on the fairway or green Judith
LD (10) Lynne
Top sausage sizzle, never mind about the golf.

And the putting competition - Earle with 28 putts.
How do you hit 68 and still lose by three strokes?

Many thanks to Don for generously sponsoring today's competition.

Still feeling a little damp...

But of course, the highlight of the day was the sausage sizzle. High marks all round for Steph and Bernie, with quality snags and a range of wholemeal buns, together with ginger beer and all the usual accompaniments. Thanks for all the hard work - it doesn't go unappreciated.

You're not getting snags AND a raffle, OK?

4BBB Stableford, 3 August 2013

Tuart Course, Wembley Golf Complex, 3 August 2013.
4 Ball Best Ball Stableford

Sponsor: ...who was the sponsor this Saturday?

Some shattering news first: Glen did not score 79 gross this week, the weather was too good.

Now that we have got that out of the way, I can tell that we had a wonderful mild sunny day, a nice change after a few average winter Saturdays we had lately.
The practice putting green of the Tuart is still with no holes cups. My mind must have recorded too well that piece of information, as today I just could not find the holes in the following 18 greens. I have missed all the miss-able, including a 10 inches par putt on #3. Which really put me off and upset my game for the rest of the day.
Game wise, I have witnessed something pretty remarkable: Richard managed to get in 2 bunkers with 1 shot; on #11 I saw (and chased) a crow that stole Paul C's sandwich; also, on #16 I saw a ball falling from the sky. But all this was nothing compared to what we all learned in the club house: a water-to-fairway! is that correct? Can someone remind me who was the author of such a miracle?

Now the Scores.

4 Ball Best Ball

Rich & Paul C 38
Lynne & Brett 42
