Stableford and AGM

A good turnout and a very enjoyable day's golf on the Old Course. Strangely, most of us seem to have mastered that drive off the first tee - it was in the more obscure parts of the course where we came undone.

Congratulations to Gary and LInh, who were married on Wednesday. Good to see you got a leave pass, mate.

Point of Order, Mr President - I'm handicapped by my handicap!
Guests and prospective members had some very respectable scores - Jason hit an 87, Brett came home with 99, Glenda a very impressive 39 points and Step with 32. Brett has applied for membership, and been accepted.

That's the great thing about the treasurer sponsoring the prize - you don't get salad servers!

Many thanks to Peter for his generous sponsorship today.

Yes, I choked. You get that at top level of golf like this.
And then we had the AGM: a quick summary of the important stuff -

  • We currently have 36 members, with another 6 or 7 prospective
  • Finances are in good shape - so good in fact that your thirtieth game this calendar year will be free!!
  • Membership will stay at $65

How come there's only the girlie balls left when I win one?
And the new committee looks like this:

President
Kerry Gardner
Captain
Earle Scarff
Vice-Captain
Judith Lotuft
Treasurer
Peter Baird
Booking Officer
Glen Pope
Communications Officer
Lorenzo Ferrentino
Social Committee
Stephanie Jeffares

Shelley Yeo

Malcolm Yeo

Bernie Caffrey

We wish you all the very best, and thanks for volunteering - your efforts are much appreciated.

That's the last time. I'm not doing this crap any more now I'm Vice-Captain.

Irish Stableford

Irish Stableford? We're still having trouble with the ordinary sort.
Phew - that was complicated, but I think we'd got the hang of it by the eighteenth.

Warm, but not unpleasantly so, and a real spread of individual scores, plus of course the St Patrick's Day sausage sizzle, which the kookaburras had been holding out for .

Not much that a good snag doesn't make better
Remember, next week is the AGM - the cafe is reserved and there will be platters of food. At the moment there are no motions for consideration, so we're anticipating a quick meeting and then into the grub.

Off to Dublin in the green, tra la la.
Today's results - welcome back to Brett, who scored a very creditable 88 off the stick, well done sir.

Bernie decided as she was sufficiently Irish already she didn't need to dress up

Par Bisque

One of toughest golf day ever, ... not for the golf itself, but for the maths and logic tests that the rules of the Par Bisque were posing, ... some of us did not pass the test :)

Delighted to have our guests today:
Brett: 95 gross, birdie on 8th
Steph: 88 gross
Glenda: 112 gross

Without further ado, here come the scores

Vice-Captain's Choice

Vice-Captain's Choice - and what did he choose? Stableford, on the Tuart.
They say practice makes perfect.

And did he do well? Hmm - that depends if you think avoiding the lollies on a double countback counts as success. Some of us clearly do.

Longest Drive, here we come.
But a very pleasant day of golf, with the weather on our side for once, avoiding the 35 degrees of yesterday, and something equally unpleasant tomorrow.

A bad day at golf is still better than a good day at work.
A special welcome to Glenda and Stepan, who joined us today as guests, both having very respectable rounds.
We didn't realise guests have to pay double fines

Today's novelties:

Ist hole, longest successful putt: Glen
9th, NTP  Judith
10th, Mens Longest Drive:  Don
11th, Ladies Longest Drive: Glenda

There's no rule says you can't play in Man Utd colours
