Club Championship, 2nd Round

Welcome back to Annie and Bev, and another beautiful autumn day - perfect golfing weather, if not perfect golf.

Membership - we're fine, but need to be alert to the need to keep introducing new members to replace the natural attrition - everyone is asked to set themselves a target of bringing along one new potential member as a guest between now and the AGM next year.

Xmas in July, 7th or 21st of January - Paul will send an email canvassing preferred dates.

The Golden Hole has jackpotted to $102, and still no takers!!

Thanks to Greg for sponsoring today's event

Closest to the pin in 3 on the 3rd, Tony Lee
Closest to the pin on the 6th, Gary
Longest Drive on the 11th, Tony Lee
Longest Drive on the 18th, Gary

Congrats to Don for his Eagles Nest a couple of weeks ago, and to Tony Lee for his birdie on the 3rd today.

And the results, Frances with 70
Paul with 70
Ghim with 69, and
Tony, with 68.

Congratulations Tony.

Ladies Day

And the boys had to play off the girl's tees, which didn't seem to make it any easier.

2nd, NTP was David Ross
6th NTP was Ross Campbell
13th NTP was Vickie
15th NTP in 2 was Shelley

In 3rd place was Kerry with  34
2nd Ghim, on countback with 35
and Ist was Vickie, also with 35

Many thanks to Ross for sponsoring today's competition.

And for the boys, three blind mice were revealed to be the 2nd, 8th and the 11th - no points scored on any of these holes, so this left the situation as:

Ric, with 28pts
Greg with 30 pts
and Derek with 31 pts. (Thanks for the pink ball, girls)

Mug of the Day goes to Rocket. Didn't have a great round.

The Golden Hole now jackpots to $70+, so all those holding back until the pot gets a bit bigger can start going for the pin.

And a heads up for Christmas in July at Ric and Pauline's - more to follow.

Could have been better, could have been worse.

And still more - quiz night at the Yeo's, which looks to be 9th of June. Again, details to follow.

Rod wonders what it all means.

Club Championship

Round one of the Club Championship, and for the brave souls who ventured forth, the storms carefully avoided Wembley all day, and we had a great day of golf.

A warm welcome to Oliver, who scored a very creditable 84 off the stick, and welcome back to Eric, who's been commuting across the country.

NTP on the 2nd, Richard Yeo
NTP on the 13th, in 2, Bernie
LD on the 7th, Shelley

And the Golden Hole jackpots again!

The scores:

Ross  69
Bernie 69, and the winner

Mike, with 68. Congratulations, and many thanks to Earle for his kind sponsorship.

Next week, Ladies Day!!

SOS versus Westerners

Gosh, it was almost wintery - by the end drops of water were beginning to fall from the sky. We gather it's called rain.

The vision-impaired Westerners took on SOS, and gave our best team a fair trouncing - final score was Westerners 144pts to SOS 120pts, with John White picking up a remarkable 42pts to put Westerners well in front.

Westerners were most appreciative of the support from SOS, and encouraged any members who'd like to be involved as stand-by caddies to volunteer.

Paul remarked, as he handed over the shield, that it was only temporary, and we expected to win it back again very soon.
NTP on the 2nd, David Ross
NTP on the 6th, Dennis
NTP in 2 on the 10th, Tony Lee
Longest Drive on the 17th, Tony Lee

And the Golden Hole jackpots to $35, so those of you who've been holding back in anticipation of a bigger pot can now go for the flag.

And the Stableford comp - a big clutch of very reasonable scores, in spite of the greens being cored and sanded, with nine players within four points of the winner, and a clean sweep by the girls.

3rd, with 38, Judith
2nd, with 38, Vickie
and 1st, with 39, Jill. Congratulations (getting to be a habit!)

Stableford Cock-Up!

Yes, due to an error by our friends at Wembley Golf Course we didn't play the first round of the Club Championship this week - instead that will now take place on May 5th. So - it was Stableford on the Tuart, which proved its usual testing self. Paul very kindly took up the back marker for us, enabling several of us to avoid acute embarrassment - thanks mate, we'll owe you one.
Lorenzo put in his third card, a very creditable 94, so the handicapper will pronounce next week. In the meantime, NTP on the third - Earle (although Ivar netted a closer shot, but expected us to fill in his name for him, which of course we didn't. Judith has promised to buy a ball for him to ease his disappointment) NTP on the ninth - Earle (becoming a habit!) NTP on the twelfth - Gary Longest Drive on the seventeenth (and it was a whopper!) - Shelley Which leaves the following to make dispatches: Kerry 36 Peter 36 Jill 36 Gary 39 and the winner is....
Glenn, also with 39. Thanks to Mike for sponsoring this weeks prize. Next week, our team versus the blind golfers is: Paul Kerry David Ross Mike Good luck to you all.
