Country Cup
No, no. This...
Always a great day, and this year was no exception.
The birds sung, the sun shone, and the wind barely stirred.
The greens were a trifle quicker than we were used to
And the bunkers....oh, the bunkers!
For some, it's not that hard. Here's how to do it
It's on days like this we realise how kind Wembley is.
But it was a great course, in excellent condition.
Not all the bunkers were this deep...
And we (nearly) all enjoyed playing it.
Might be worth trying to master this technique
We welcomed a number of guests, who had their own prize
And welcomed Barry to membership of SOS
There was a special shout out to Gary, who's been working on making this day a success for months now. Great show, Gary.
And to Shelley, who's always working tirelessly and selflessly in the background, so that everyone else has a good time. Again, many thanks, Shelley.
A suitably rural prize for the country cup winner
The novelties provided plenty of competition
Gim and Stephanie had fun playing with the wildlife.
We gather Steph's shriek was enough to put Gim off for the rest of the round.
Gary managed to just carry the lake on the par 3, but he then putted backwards into it for his second shot.
Our guest Dane, finished with 40 points. Fortunately he wasn't in competition.
For those who were in competition:
Congratulations to Don, who completed a very solid round, hitting the green consistently from 100-120 metres and managing to stay out of those sand traps most of the time. But this particular trap snared three out of four players, all within a couple of inches of each other.
His wise comment after the game - it's a course on which you need to be aware of your limitations. I think he meant me.
An excellent round from Stan and Barry.
Meadow Springs did a good job of getting the meals out promptly, and some of us hung around afterwards until the mosquitoes told us it was time to go home.
And don't we all enjoy a good cat video
Next week, Stableford on the Tuart. See you there. And remember:
