Some obscure variant of Irish Ambrose, or Naked Nines, or maybe Canadian Foursomes?
No, she surprised us all with ....Stableford!
So, Stableford it was. Which seemed to throw a few of us, there were some rather less than outstanding scores from some usually reliable golfers.
No real excuses either.
It wasn't hot. Half of us had carts.
All a bit odd, really.
And, for all those of you who lost a ball on the ninth hole:
Vickie's circulated some information which you need to read before the AGM
In particular, the Local Rules, which we seem to have been either blissfully unaware of,
Or willfully ignoring. Let's look at a couple of them.
There is no such thing as a preferred lie on the fairway, unless it is so stipulated on the day (if there's been bad weather, perhaps, with waterlogged ground).
You may roll the ball out of a divot. But there's no hand span, half a club or whatever to move your ball into a better line. That's history. Play it where it lies.
Happy Birthday to Brenda on the 16th.
And Mr Baird comes agonisingly close to a hole in one |
