Changing of The Guard- Perry Lakes Cup 2017

Sponsored by the gorgeous Wifey.

And so the New Season begins with The Changing of the Guard, and the new El Presidente, The Vickster, showing us the way down the middle of the fairway.

what a fine shout it was as it soared down the middle to tumultuous applause from the madding crowd!!!

Let the season begin!!!

With the change in the Committee it also falls upon me to welcome you to your new BlogMeister, as the lovely Stiff takes over the reigns.

So this is indeed my 'swansong', and a very poor one it will be,,,,,,

especially as all my notes ended up in the wash due to an ever-keen Wifey who in her urgency to get the grotty washing done failed to notice the paper in my back pocket,,,,, and it subsequently came out a little bit mushed!!!

Oooppppsss!

The Results
Well, well, well,,,,,,, with the start of the new season came some cracking golf scores, with our lowest handicapper, Phil Mickle McKeague, narrowly missing out on the Trophy and a 'par' round to good old Ron Argus Conway

Quality rounds guys,,,,,,, and also mention must go to Deadly Derek, for taking home the sugary prize, even after attempting to lose his card in the carpark.

Hey Deadly, i live by the adage that if you don't come first you may as well come last!

Anyway on with the detail:-

1st  Ron Conway 41 (Birdie 6th)

2nd  Phil McKeague 40 (Birdies 9th, 14th, 15th, 16th)

3rd  Roger Blatchford (CB) 36

4th  Glen Pope (Birdie 7th)  36

5th  Don Beesley (CB) 35

6th  Jan Rowling 35

Brenda Jones, Stan Tan 34
Frances Longhurst, Paul Gardner (Birdie 12th) 33
Rob Gray, Peter Baird 32
Gordon Neilsen 31
Dave Williamson, Richard Yeo, Kerry Gardner, Stephanie Jeffares 30
Lynne Malone, Richard Osborne, Thomas Reilly 28
Ross Campbell 27
Shelley Yeo 26
Derek Longhurst 22 (Derek was nearly successful in avoiding the lollies when his card was “temporarily” lost!)

Congrats also to Roger (yet to think of an appropriate nickname for you) for his competitive round for the club and coming a creditable 3rd,,,,
Reap it while ya can buddy!!!!

Novelties
Apart from the Golden Hole not going off and therefore increasing,,,,,, i don't reall have a clue what happened?!

I'm pretty sure with the number of birdies that McMickel-Keague would've won one,

as would The Argus

Ex-BlogMeister Gardi didn't win a novelty but can boast another birdie on the 12th hehehehehehheeeee

And i think that Lyn The Mucker Malone may have won the longest drive?????

But in hindsight, all of the above could be just a figment of my over-active imagination,,,,

Fines of The Week
None really to speak of, cos i can't remember any, so the only one goes to my beloved:-

Wifey -- for destroying my copious notes with the hasty washing!
Ahh bless!!! xxx

Irish Stableford

I believe it was supposed to be sponsored by Sticky McGlue, but unfortunately he came unstuck as his 'mates' imbibed a smidgen too much of the Black Stuff and caused him to break his ankle......

GET WELL SOON FELLA!!!!!!

And there we a few 'welcome backs' for such a fine event as we said hello again to Ivar & Judith, Bruce & Mardi, Beardy Dave and Mustang Ross

Apologies to Bruce & Mardi as i was too late in getting pics as you snuck in as i was teeing off,,,,, next time xxx

And of course to Bernie BeJesus

as she offered support her fellow Oirishman as he was recovering in the nearby hospital:-

"Get youself down thr fookin golf course you fookin eeejit Ciaran!"
You'll walk it off, so you will!"

So what happened as the rain decided to come and go,,,,,

Commiserations to Ciaran, we at SOS hope you have a speedy recovery and hope to see you at drinks on Opening Day with the full story.

NTP--  Nobody ??????????
LD --   Fordy

Nobody hitting the green on the 14th?????
Boo hiss people,,,

Golden Hole
And yes it finally went off, but not without some controversy,,,,, as Stan the Man Tan ticked the wrong spot on the sheet, after narrowly beating Fordy on the inside,,,,,,,,, thankfully The Committee, after much thoughtful banter finally saw sense and allowed him his ill-gotten gains!!!!!

Well done mucker!!!!!!!!!

Fines of the Week
Derek & Paul-- for being so stupida as to argue with our respective spouses without realising that whatever happens,,,,,, it's all our fault!!!!

Derek & Paul-- for suggesting to play a couple of holes in The Emperors New Clothes

Stan, Ciaran, Bernie-- for being a little bit sick in the head/ankle/stomach and it affecting their ball striking.

Stan-- for clearly being a little short-sighted due to his sickness and not ticking the correct area on the sheet.

Vickie-- for being angry and aggressive whilst carrying the chairs at the Sausage Sizzle and creating General Carnage, by bumping into people and benches.

Brenda-- for informing us that there are apparently
"Too many snakes in Ireland!"

Earl-- for being like his missus and generally out-of-control of his equipment.

Par Bisque

He's looking a bit cold, I'll give him a cuddle

Phew, what a scorcher.
Good to see Glen back with eyes intact

Actually, not quite as bad as we were anticipating. Probably because most of us went in carts.

A very slow start, and some pretty slow members of the public in front of us, who got appropriately scolded by the Controller.
It's going to be one of those days

Par Bisque - a game that usually favours the higher handicappers. What happened to us all today - some fairly meagre scores?
Peter prepares to exit before it's even begun

Happy Birthday to Phil McKeague.

Next week it's Stableford, then the following week it's Irish Stableford, so start searching through the wardrobe for something suitably Irish.
Pres takes a snack
Roger's first sighting in the blog
In a fortnight, the AGM will be at Perry Lakes, we'll turn it into a bit of a sausage sizzle. Would you bring folding chairs if you have any, (and would like to be comfortable)
Last sight of Colin before his big Australia tour, make the most of it

OK  - the results.
Nice weather for a hot pie!
