Stableford

Sponsored by the bubbly Brenda.

And so what did Saturday 14th January have in for us?
Well for one it was damned hot,,,, despite warnings from The WeatherMan we sweltered under the WA sun!

Good to see Gordo, Trav and Dave join us for a cheeky round,,,,,

Let's hope we see a bit more of ya!!!!!

With the heat my frozen towel managed to only last the first few holes before it turned into a warm soggy mess.

And to add to the confusion, we were ushered to the 10th as we played the course in a slightly backwards fashion.

All very confusing for some,,,,,, however the general consensus was that it made for a pleasant change, although those that had 'mentally prepared' the first few holes were buggered! heheheeee

We had another celebrity guest join us too, as Colin of Arabia was see wielding his wand!

So what happened on the day????

Scores
Unfortunately my secretary (Vickster) has let me down and i didn't take note of any of the scores, so apologies for the lack of info.
As such i can only 'bookend' the scores:-

The Winner of the Day was El Pres Shelley, with a delightful 41 points.

It was a top round with hardly a fairway missed, as she accumulated the points.

If a few putts had a bit more luck, the score could've been soooooooo much better.

Well done Pres!

And bringing up the rear, and with the honour of reading out the fines was our good old mate Gordo.

Top fines Big Man!!!

Novelties
It has to be noted, that there was some confusion with the novelties, which led to the cry of:-
"Worst novelties in the world Evers!"

LD --  Dave Mandy
NTP-- Earl
NTP-- Lyn
NTP-- Ciaran     (though nearly missed out due to late payment!)

And once again the Golden Hole didn't go off.

Fines of the Week
There is no need for a preamble this week so i'll right into it for ya

Vickie-- for bossing us all around, banging the table, and generally being demanding. Though someone's funny response was:-
"Now we know why Earl just ignores you,,,, chuckle, chuckle!"

Brenda-- for lining up a shot with the wrong person's club, then realising she has left her correct club in the bunker of the previous hole,,,,,, and then getting Lyn to drive in the cart back to get it!!!!

Paul-- for resembling a beetroot after the round,,,,, and even more miraculously NOT having a beer or alcoholic drink either during or after the round!
What is the world coming to????

Gordo-- for the trick shot of hitting a drive backwards!
The ball apparently struck a branch in front of the ladies tee then rebounded to the back of the men's tee,,,,, so not only 'hitting up' on himself, but a 'slut' and probably followed by 'excessive swearing' and some 'club abuse',,,,,,,,
nice work dude.

And saving the best for last:-

Stiff-- for playing with herself, not being allowed into the bush, and not looking for men's balls.
Apparently "Mum told me never to go bush with strange men"

New Year's Cup 2017

Sponsored by Tricky Dickie Osbourne.

And so it was time for the first cup of the New Year, and what did the day have in hold for us????

As the weather was fine for the start, though according to the WeatherMan we were due for some rather windy conditions as the end,,,

Only time will tell,,,,, so read on and find out xx

I feel it is my duty to mention to those that were absent, that it was Wifey's Birthday Weekend.

The guy on the right was Shaun from Nobu for our GORGEOUS teppanyaki meal on Sunday night,,,,,

pity i didn't focus in on the 'Happy Birthday' salt-writing a bit better,,,,, must've been something to do with all the cocktails!!!

We also had a visitor by the name of Roger from Guildford, who had the joy of playing in the same group as myself.

I was on my best behavior, due to the Birthday Weekend and Saturday night plans which i hope didn't put him off with my normality.

Though i did subject him to a few wonder shots, including a 10 on a par 5,,,,, with 8 of the shots being played with my usually trusty putter,,,, heheheheheeeee

So what indeed did happen????

The Results
Well, for a man who said he had a shocker, funnily enough backed up by his team mates the winner was:-

Well done to Ciaran for winning yet another cup (think it's 6!) in his first year at the club!

Ciaran-- for being downright bloody ridiculous and attempting the feat of Dry January?????!!!!!
Foolchild!

Stiff-- for being strangely grumpy after losing to the sober Dry OirishMan
Just look at her sad face,,,

Vickie-- as normal there are a couple of Fines for the lovely Vickie
(1) Being an Angry Bird for launching the lollies at Poor ol Peter,,,,,, great arm tho!!!
(2) For stating that "Colin's not here" when he was sat there listening attentively a mere 2 foot away on the next seat.
(3) And then stating that there's "no New Year's Cup",,,,, then correcting herself "Oh yes there is, it's at our house!"
Ahhhhh bless,,,,,,,

Stiff-- after being grumpy then sneezing and sliming poor old Stan the Man

Paul-- for getting the 10 on the par 5,,,,,, but more importantly winning the bets, winning the raffle and thanks to Horsey Phil winning on the gee-gees.

Last Game of 2016

Sponsored by the sociable but slightly roguish BlogMeister.

And so it is the Return of the Blog for the last game of 2016.

though i have to say it will be quite a short one, as very few photos were taken, and to be honest there isn't a great deal of info or fines to report.

Now that's not to say we didn't all have a great day,,,, but i reckon it was the 'calm before the storm' for the New Year's Eve Festivities.

I hope you all saw it in with true Aussie/Kiwi/English/German/Irish/South African fashion!!!!!!

Boy we are a multi-cultural club aren't we????

What i can report is Keith & Carol's 3rd cards were recorded,,,,, and we welcome them to the SOS, with open arms and empty beer glasses.

So please feel free to 'look after' the Committee,,,,, especially the BlogMeister.

And what else is there to report, what other important news do we have for you????

,,,,,,,,, only the matter of:-

Brett Pretty Boy Fordham v Paul The Pickled Gardner

in
 Battle for the Bottle
(aka lowest handicap for 2016)

It came down to not only the last game of the season, where we were both on exactly the same handicap, but also to whatever was going to 'drop off' our GolfLink scores as poetically we both scored the same amount of stableford points on Saturday.

And it gives me awesome please to announce that The Pickled One came out the winner!!!!
Waaaahhhhaaaaayyyyyyyy,,,,,, "Get them in son,,, you're buying fella!!!"

So now i suppose those that didn't play might want to know what happened on the day,,,,,

The Results
Since my scoring staff weren't available i have to rely purely on my memory, which you all know is shocking, and as such will be far from complete, but i can announce with a splendid score the winner is:-

A marvellous score of 42 points!

WELL PLAYED MATE

2nd-- Paul via countback with Brett
3rd-- Brett via countback
4th-- ??
5th-- ??

Last and the lollies to Glen The Atheist Pope.

Novelties
NTP 2--  Kerry
NTP 9--  Phil
NTP13-- Phil
NTP15-- Derek

nice work on some really close shots.

And the pot grows as the Golden Hole remained untouched.

Other Comments (as there are no Fines of the Week)

El Presidente proudly mentioned that a donation of $200, as collected from the fines in November, was donated to the Honours Avenue Foundation
for the Remembered Armed Forces.
Great effort people, and thanks from all for digging deep.

Malcolm-- look at this good looking rooster in his youthful aeronautical prime.
Guess how old he is?
Answers will be revealed on sat

Glen-- for propelling his away round the golf course by wind power alone.

Stan-- for gibbering/talking/wittering for the entire 18 holes, and then disappearing early before we could get our own back in the bar.
