Xmas Cup

T'was the day of the Xmas Cup sponsored by that kind Elf Brett.

I would apologise for the delay in getting this to you fair people but it's Xmas and apologies are not required (especially if you've already been bad as Santa is not going to visit anyway!)

As many of you know i have a tech 'meltdown' and all my usual pics have been left up in the ether,,,, some alleged cloud has it, and won't let them go!

so i've had to rely on a couple of others for their work,,, which is muchly appreciated.

Results
Unfortunately the only thing i remember, as i haven't been sent the scores is that Vickie won!!!

Oh and that Glen came last,,, i only know that as Kerry has told me NOT to eat his lollies...

Fines
I wrote down a couple of fines, but seem to have mislaid them over the time since the golf and today,,, but i do remember the following:_

Stan-- "Catholic Golf"

Vickie-- "Chunder Guts"

Next week
Golf as per normal, i thing for the New Year Cup, so let's hope we get a good turnout and it's not too warm

That's all folks and see ya on sat!

Xmas Cheer
Very kindly hosted by the Yeos, and much fun was had by all!

now for some reason, and i'm blaming the tech failure which seems to have hit my home pc too, but the pics are 'slightly wonky'

Anniversary Cup

Sponsored by our resident Butterfly Whisperer Derek or was it Gold Medallist Richard????
Apologies to both of the above,,,, slight lapse in memory,,,, oooopss

After last weeks horrendous weather it was back to normal as we endeavoured to 'tame the course' as we vied for the Anniversary Cup.
Peter 'The WeatherMan' Baird assured us that there would be no precipitation today but the wind was likely to blow.

And blow some of us off course it certainly did,,, eh Tom?

If it makes you feel any better Tom, i had a bit of a shocker too,,,, managing to lose 2 balls and an awful shank on the 13th losing yet another ball,,,,

to compound it all my 3rd landed 6ft from the pin!!!!!
Arrggghhhh,,,, gotta love golf!

On the plus side we welcomed back a couple of 'long lost guests' with the re-emergence of Big Hitting Jason (Phil McLeod's son-in-law), Alan 'Tiny' Osborne and Don 'The Hustler' Beesley!

Great to see you all guys!

And onwards to the main event,,,, the golf.

Fines of the Week
Ohhh there were indeed quite a few for this week, but as you can probably tell i wasn't paying full attention after my shocking round (for this a MASSIVE THANKS must go out to Roland 'ze german' Stanger for keeping me sane and for providing me with much needed alcohol after the game!)

so here are a couple of the much more gooderer ones:-

Malcolm-- for getting lost driving the cart to the 1st tee
(Malc, you can blame The Coach for that one!)

Peter-- for forgetting his wallet at home and having to drive all the back prior to teeing off.

Stan-- totally inappropriate coaching during the week

The Last Group-- for being totally ensconced in their own game and forgetting the markers and having to go back out to retrieve the little buggers!

Bernie & Stiff-- for apparently 'gas-bagging' for the entire round

Ambrose 4's

Sponsored by SOS,,,,,,

Unfortunately i have to lead this brief Blog with the sad news of the passing of ex-SOS member Keith Waddacor.
Keith was an integral part of the club serving as Booking Officer for over a decade.
His funeral is scheduled for Monday.
Our thoughts are with his family.

Well what a day that was,,, or should i say what a load of rain/storm/wind making it all rather miserable.
After a short delay two teams did actually tee off, but after the rain got heavier, and radars were checked the rest decided enough was enough and there wasn't much fun to be had.

Just call me a fair weather player,, hehehehe

The sensible decision was taken to call it off, and we got a credit for next week as the greens were flooded!

And that's about it peeps, as there's not much else to comment on apart from my admiration to those brave members that tried to play, what is indeed a fantastic team game!!!

Grumpy looking sky!

And then came the rain

Xmas Cheer
Don't forget the Xmas cheer is at the Yeo's on the 19th December, details and address have been sent out via email.
Kris Kringle to be brought for each person attending to the max value of $20,,,, the funnier the better!!!!

Stableford Competition on the Old Course

Beautifully sponsored by ze German, Roland.

T'was indeed a windy day at Wembley today and everybody assumed the scoring was NOT going to be high, but more about that later when the results are published.

Work on the clubhouse is starting to take shape, and there was much building going on.
Let's hope the final results will be as good as promised,,,, and the price of beer doesn't go up!

The usual reprobates were at the range trying to get some last minute tweaks ironed out, as the wind blew.

Since it was Ze Germans sponsorship round, we saw the overdue return of baby daddy Ulrich and the lovely Danny who acted as chauffeur, caddy, ball spotter (Ully was a tad wayward, due to trying to swing himself off his feet with every shot!), and coach,,,, though i have to say i don't think he was listening to your advice.

Other people who shall remain nameless, Tom, were feeling the effects of an evening with AC-DC!

Anyway onwards, upwards, forwards and sideways as we sauntered (and that's just Ulrich,, sorry pal) down to the golf.

Results
The results will have to wait as my secretary Vicki has yet to send me the scores, and i'm out tomorrow night (what a life we lead eh?) and didn't want to wait until Thursday to get the blog out.

What i can say was that the flies were bloody sticky and annoying and ruined my putting!
Look that's my excuse and i'm sticking with it. Hehehee

Fun fact- did you know that flies actually learn their behaviour?

But considering the conditions there were some fantastic scores, with the prize being taken out by Richard "Gold Medal Winner" Osborne with an awesome score of 42 points!!!!!!

Absolute quality mate,,,

The rest will follow, i promise!

Oh yes and i nearly forgot,,,,, Ulrich came gloriously last won the lollies and read the fines with aplomb.

Novelties

NTP6  - Lynne "in da hole" Malone
NTP10- Phil McKeague

Golden Hole
Blimey Char, give someone else a go! Heheehe
Well done m'dear for claiming another massive $24 with a 'cracking' shot to 12" to the pin.

Well done and we assume the birdie was made????

Quotes of the Week
Gordon to Phil on the 1st after taking a while to tee off-- "Hey Phil, you better tee it up higher,,,,,,,,,,, you've taken so long the grass is growing!"

After blasting the ball to all parts Ulrich got his first par and was heard to utter-- "So that's what they mean by Course Management! Ya mate asit!"

Ulrich's baby mumma Danny on the 13th-- "come on boys, anybody want their balls cleaned?"

Fines of the Week
Danny when asked to open Earle's sun cream,,, blurting it all over the cart and making a real mess,,,, please note this was well before the ball cleaning incident (above).

I didn't have a pic of the "event", and i liked this picture so i thought i'd use it instead.

But the winner by an absolute stretch is:-

Graeme and Avril who, as they weren't even playing, beeped me just as i was playing my approach to the par5, fourth!
With a massive show of control i managed to stop on the down swing,,,, it was bloody good timing!!!!!!

Next Week
Is that fun packed game of Ambrose Fours, a brilliant team game where you can just whack away!

Christmas Cheer
Plus a date for your diary, 19th December for the 2015 Christmas Cheer, which this year will be hosted by Malcolm & Shelley.
More details will follow.

For all those that attend please bring along a Secret Santa gift (that you would like to receive) to the value of $20.
If anybody needs any hints, the metal garden birds (from big retail stores) and the $2.50 bottles of wine (from Dan Murphy's) went down incredibly well at Christmas in July.
