Saturday 28th June 2014 3rd Round Match Play Old Course

Thanks to the beautiful day weather wise, my golf was one step ahead of my husbands.  It was the 3rd Round of the Match Play and I managed to scrape in with an "All Squared" round.  Bliss in the Stanger household once again.

Most of the players seemed very happy with their game, especially Graeme who beat the Captain! Well Done!!! Poor Kerry almost beat Gary on the 18th but his awesome pitch in the hole made her scream with disgust ending in an "All Squared" . The Ladies did exceptionally well in their games on Saturday.  It proves that we are not "All Weather Golfers" as we hate the Wet Look.

Saturday 21st June 2014, Match Play 2nd Round Wembley Old Course

The second round of the dreaded Match Play was played in atrocious weather conditions.  As the saying goes "We learn so many things from Golf - how to Suffer for instance!"  Well that we did in the rain trying to finish the hole and walking back against players, wind, rain etc.  Soaked to the bone we arrived at the club awaiting the rest of the players.  Must say SOS has some hardcore players, going till the very end, determined to win that $1m prize. Well done to you!

Although my team did not finish 18 holes, I could not have asked for funnier team players as in Nola (Canola - smooth as!) and Paul Ewing.  Nola was determined to put Paul off his game, her tactic for match play but Mr Ewing put on that smile and just laughed at her.  Great game you two.  Nothing to say about my game against the ruthless Ullrich.  It took me three shots to get to his drive but I tried!

Saturday 14th June 2014 Match Play 1st Qualifying

Well the Match Play has started and all arrived well prepared.  Mr Pope received well wishes from all as he was playing with The Stanger Trio and I was his first victim.  I just could not get the better of him, even made scary eyes at him and threatened him but to no avail.  He eventually got the better of me on hole 16.  Well done Pope.  The other duo proved that Son will not give into Dad when it comes to who is the alpha male in the German household!  Well done Ullrich.  Then there were "The Desantis's" duo. Nola was so happy on the first hole when she beat Steve but that did not last long.  Steve went golf balls to the green and scored an eagle, now who can compete with that!  Well Done!  and along came Graeme gloating because he beat poor Kerry who got stung by a bee.  No luck for us SOS Ladies.  The only ladies that held our name high beating the men were:  Fanchea and Gim. Well we will come back with revenge this week, weather permitting!

After two weeks off I was looking forward to a great day at golf.  Weather was great for golf, cold in the morning, warming up to a beautiful day.

We had a full field of twenty seven players.  The first nine holes seemed to have taken its toll on a number of players, which made me feel part of the group, as we all failed dismally to produce a proper score.  We seemed to have competed for the "Lollies in stead of the Trophy".  Results as follows:
