Match Play - Round 3
Our main thought today was for Allan, so sadly and unexpectedly passed away on the night of 27 June 2013.

Allan Paterson, 27 June 2013
It is with our deep regret that we learned, very unexpectedly, that our dear friend Allan passed away on the night of 27 June 2013.
Dear Allan,
We are all going to miss you, your friendly smile, your warm companionship, your reassuring essence, your friendly nature.
We are together in sorrow for having to part so early and so bitterly.
You left us so unexpectedly, but you are taking our love with you.
We hope that you will find the greenest fairways up there in Heaven.
R.I.P.

Tee off at 9:24am this morning, for Round 2 of the annual Club's Match Play.
It was 9:07am and I was just about to start my putting practice routine, when my opponent graciously yelled that it was time to tee off. Reason: there was no one in front of us, so we could have started a little earlier. Well, as a matter of fact we did not, we started at 9:24am as per schedule, so I missed my desperately needed putting refresher.
This is just one example of Match Play strategies, and how this highly competitive game can tear even the most reputable Club apart :)
Back to my game, to make it better, the same opponent chipped in the first two holes from 10+ meters; after 3 holes she was 1 shot under par (and 3 up). It was enough to make me grumpy for the whole morning.
However, as usual, at the 19th hole, my shandy & wedges proved once again to be an almighty healer.
I soon learned that I was not the only one harbouring complaints today, as a matter of fact, about EVERY couple had some kind of argument, ranging from the correct handicap to the legitimacy of one's trousers colour. Let's face it: this last one was about Glen :)))
Other complaints included: talking or, even worse, loughing in the midst of a swing; usage or not of 4th generation GPS devices; stepping or moving leaves on a putting line; congratulating with a broad grin after a bad shot; assisting the opponent in NOT finding a lost ball; general strategic/annoying behaviour; bad weather; the GFC; the alignment of planets in the Solar System; the infamous Maya predictions.
Oh, I forgot: chipping in the first 2 holes :)))
Ok, enough of that.
Gary won the Golden Jackpot
and as it was barely a miserable 70-odd dollars, he managed to secure the first winning number of the raffle. Now, that's class.
I did say CL-ass, right?
Time for the scores.

Play of the day:
Ross, sorry, it's your turn: forgetting to place the "Nearest to the pin in 2" at the originally planned #10, which was then converted, with some masterful tricks and the hope to get away with it, in NTP in 2 at #16. As a consequence, #16 had no less than 2 markers today. So, basically, after Gary landed his satellite-guided ball a few inches away from the hole, the hole cup was one of the most heavily defended places in Australia.
Next week: Match Play - Round 3, with more spice than ever.
Here follows the weekly photographic evidence

I featured another 4-in-the-same-bunker; I did decide to take it easy today and try new shots, but a less miserable score would have been better.
