Moving Day

No, not in that Championship Golf way - more the metaphorical, damp handkerchief sort of way.

Today SOS said goodby to Mike Waters. Mike has been a stalwart of the group for longer than many of us can remember - a constant contributor in ways both large and small. One of those wonderful people without whom clubs such as SOS just can't happen.

It is perhaps as Bookings Officer that most of us will remember Mike. It's a thankless and unglamorous task, but one that Mike has discharged with not only ruthless accuracy, but also unfailing good humour. Eschewing glamour, reputation and acclaim, he has given hours of his time every week to ensure that everything runs smoothly on the day. We take it for granted that it will - and that is itself testament to his achievement.

Mike - we wish you and Christine every happiness in Queensland, and may you find a club that appreciates you and will exploit your talents as enthusiastically as we have. You'll both be much missed.

And the Match Play champion - Greg, congratulations, beating Lorenzo in the finals.

Thanks to Lorenzo for today's photographs.

Stableford

Many thanks to Frances for sponsoring today's competition.

And congratulations to Glen for being elected unopposed to the position of Bookings Officer. It's a great honour, sir!

Reminder that the country cup is scheduled for 29th September at Rockingham - guests are welcome for this event.

And today:

NTP 3  Don
LD    8  Glen
NTP 12 Megan
NTP 18 Glen

And today's results:

3rd, with 309 points, Glen
2nd, on 40, Greg

And the winner, with 41 pts, was Don! Congratulations.

The Jackpot on the Golden Hole is now $285 - any larger and it'll have to feature in your next tax return. Good luck next week.

American Foursomes

An announcement from Mike - he's decamping to Brisbane, and it appears we'll have to do without himself and Christine in the future.

You'll both be much missed - we gather they do have golf courses in Queensland, though. Wishing you every happiness.

A wide range of scores today, but a pair of clear winners in Greg and Earle, with a magnificent 64!

Going downhill from there,

Ric and Colin on 67
Vickie and Phil on 70
Lorenzo and David Ross on 71.

Of the rest, the less said the better.....

And the novelties:

Longest Drive on the 2nd, Lorenzo
NTP 9, Greg
NTP 12, Ross
NTP 15, Megan!

Never mind. There's always next week.

Bernie has gone back to Ireland for a few months, but we expect to see her returning in the New Year - Bon voyage,

and Lorenzo has very kindly offered to sponser a bottle of Limoncello for anyone birdying the 12th - that's off the stick. Should be safe for a bit, Lorenzo!

And the good news is that the jackpot on the 16th has now grown to around $300. By the time you've shouted the bar, should still be a few dollars left.
